  • New American Classic II 1911

A new venture for me into the 1911 world. I picked up this Metro Arms American Classic II Commander as a starter 1911. I now realize what all the kudos are about. I added some Double Diamond Cocobolo Slim Grips and it feels great. Have shot almost 500 rounds. What a great shooter...and fun too! Here it is.

i sold mine a while back....it was one of the best shooting (softest shooting) 1911s i ever owned. the only things i did to mine was change the slide stop to standard because i hold 1911s with high thumbs and it stopped the extended slide stop from locking the slide back, and i fitted a EGW mag catch because the stock one was so sloppy the mags would giggle so much it wouldnt feed even fmj, too much up and down play with the mags....

after those two mods the gun was flawless.
I hate being bi-polar, its awsome!

Nice looking 1911 . . . very classic, with the exception of the extended slide stop. Still, if you like the extra length, fine. Otherwise, or if the extra mass causes problems like it did for JERRY, consider an Ed Brown or Wilson Combat brand replacement. The Wilson "Bullet Proof" version is expecially nice, but pricey.

Of course, the real problem with 1911's is that they tend to be addictive. I can NOT offer any useful advice for dealing with that issue.
It would be so nice if something made sense for a change.

Thx, I will keep an eye on the mag issue. So far, it hasn't caused any problems.

I feel the addiction beginning already, as I'm already thinking what to get next. Ah, decisions...decisions!
