    Woe # 2
I now had to decide what to coat the whole pistol with. I decided on two tone Cerakote from a local shop.
But I decided on one final touch.
I serrated the rear of the aluminum to match the rear sight blade

    Then I discovered this

Yes that's crack. So now I need to buy a new slide. I'm glad it happened before I Cerakoted anything.

    What next ?

I'd stay indoors, away from power tools or electricity. I think your in a temporary bad juju phase.
Stay away from sharp pointy things, stairs, etc.

Your on a sad roll of bad luck.

That's a shame about the slide (cracked even the that corner was relieved), still nice work on the serrations.

It strange that the slide cracked there since there isn't any contact between th slide and the rib or barrel. There's always a gap. The only contact / impact is the steel breach block insert against the barrel chamber face. The newer slide design has a wider relief radius in the corner because of this flaw.

            It's a Marvel Precision.
I have two barrels for it.
            One with open sights

and one for red dot optics

They come with test targets guaranteed to shoot under an inch at 50 yds.

Dunno about Marvel, but the old Kart conversion, to which the Marvel is quite similar, had a warning regarding hyper velocity ammo. Dunno if its slide crack related.

My Tactical Solutions conversion, similar to the Marvel and Kart as well, has instructions for matching hammer mainsprings to the strength of the ammo being used. Basically, you start with a heavy spring, and use the heaviest that will still allow reliable slide hold open on the last round. IOW, use a stronger than normal spring if need be, to avoid over ooomphing the action.
