  • K9 or cw45

I was comparing my k9 to my cw45 just now and I don't think there is much difference in weight after you load up the cw with 45's. Not that it really makes any difference just noticed that and thought I would share. I think unless somebody is stuck on carrying 45's the k9 would be the better choice. Just my opinion.

    Particularly with double stack guns,
the difference between 230 and 125 gr really starts to add up.
Especially with two high cap reloads.

It's easy to compare empty gun weights.
But loaded, how you carry, is a more meaningful way to look at it - IMHO.

I would also select the K9. Had a K9 that I regret selling.

I really prefer the all steel Kahrs, particularly the stainless steel guns.

That is what I am starting to figure out also. I got the cw first and then the k9. I am thinking the cw is going to find a place in the safe for a while. I know the caliber difference but it does not bother me. I feel like 9mm will get the job done.

With modern high tech ammo 9 is fine.

There's enough data out there on real world scenarios (particularly in NY where the NYPD carries 9mm) to put it to rest, really. The difference between quality ammo of one major caliber to another has been negligible.

People just love to argue it seems.

I can present one practical reason for .45 over 9mm however, particularly in the role of home defense: .45 is subsonic.

It will still be ear piercingly loud, but you wont have the insane 'crack' you would get out of a 9mm.

Good enough for me. I'll keep my 45. Don't want to damage my sensitive hearing, what tiny little bit there is left.

I've shot a G27 40, with super sonic 1150 fps 155 gr Speer GDHP ammo,
in a small closed room with no hearing protection.
With adrenalin sound is no problem at all.

that noise crapola is not even worht arguing about. Barth is dead right, when adrenilan stikes sound means nadda. A 45 going bang in a closed area is loud, callit subsonic but I callit a subsonic loud. It is loud, In a shitf situation u are not gona think about ay sound issues if u start thinking about that crap, u might just be dead on arrival top.. U never hear the shot that kills u. THEY SAY.

You can double tap with your 9mm and I'll put the same amount of lead in them with 1 shot .There is no replacement for displacement as an old hot rodder would say.

u 45 guys have all kinds of sayin's. My 2 9mm have been there already hours ago, so all u 45 guys are doing is shooting "corpses". Just sayin.

                          K9,for several reasons>>>

9mm ammo is cheaper = more practice
                          Less recoil
K-series is pretty reliable. I've got several hundred through mine.
9mm is easier to shoot one handed- you can't always have time to set up a shot.

I reload practice ammo so cost is pretty close there.I've got nothing against 9mm.I carry my .45 when I can,9mm when I can't and .380 when neither of the others will work.Just prefer the bigger slug, all will get the job done.

My most carried weapons are a CW45, and a compact all metal 9mm. The 9 is easier to conceal, but I like the power of the .45. I feel well protected with either, but I prefer the .45 round.
