  • New grip addition...

I've posted my polished K40 on here before, with both checkered wood and the original soft Hogue rubbers. For everyday carry,I prefer the rubber,a tad thinner and tactile feel. But under heavy .40 recoil there needs to be some front strap hold. Checkering or stipling is fine, but pricey and has to be shipped off.

Then I found a new product in the Walmart sp.goods dept. It's a finger groove slipover from Butler Creek, same exact soft rubber formula as the Hogues. However,I hate the slip-over outfit, looks crappy and adds too much width. SO,I got a brain storm,I sipped the device over my bare frame, razor cut the wrap around material off leaving an 1/8th of an inch attached to the finger grooved part.

Then I applied a tiny line of Super Glue gel along the remaining tabs and installed the grips. The finger groove piece is attached firmly to the gip panels, and they can still be removed for cleaning. The feel is FANTASTIC! Everybody I hand it to hates to let it go. Too bad Hogue didn't introduce this originally. It also improves your rapid fire groups muy bueno.

I really like that polish job. I just cant bring myself to start it with either of mine.
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

Here's something I found a bit ago for 1911's, it adds rubber finger grooves and goes on under the grips you already have. I wonder if it could be cut somehow to fit on Kahrs, maybe the larger models (T9 and the like)?

only gonna cost 10 bucks to find out. The idea sure sounds good, would wonder if the exisitnggrips crews would work OK even. U gotta remember the grips on the all steel models also serve to hold that trigger bar in correct position to so more than likely this might not work..
. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

I hadn't thought about the trigger bar thing. As you said, it's only $10 to find out. I probably won't do it anytime soon, but I'll report in when I do.

Brownell's also sells a really thin cheese grater type piece that fits under grips. Easy to trim to length. Looks like a checkered front strap. Doesn't effect grip at all, really thin.

They offer it in large and small, make sure you get the small for the K frame. It will hold w/out the super glue bead, but just for extra insurance I glued the piece to the grips. Just don't get any on the frame.

Skateboard tape on the front strap works extremely well.
