I picked up a used K9 last spring. The gun shoots well. One issue is that the trigger is failing to return all the way forward when released. It can be pushed forward the last 1/8", or if I let the trigger spring forward from all the way back. I am assuming the trigger spring is weak and needs to be replaced. Could there be something other than the trigger spring causing the issue?

Imo
not the trigger spring, sumpin elseis causing it Be very sure the striker channel is spiffy clean. U have an older version K9 witht he rubber hogue grips which normal;y don't give an ounce of issue either. U can certainly do the check mentioned withthe grips off, to eliminate the grips being the issue. the sring at the trigger normally unless breaks for some reason never gives out. with the grips off check ur trigger bar spring to and a little dab of grease where the spring comes into contact withthe trigger bar will not urt a thing either. U can checkthe cocking ca easily. Just give it a flip and it should returne automatically...Originally posted by BroncoAZ View PostI picked up a used K9 last spring. The gun shoots well. If it has the NYPD trigger - that's pretty much how they work. you can "pop" it forward the last 1/8", but it doesn't go there on it's own. The trigger doesn't limit forward movement like the regular kahr trigger does. The trigger bar is actually limited by hitting the back of the frame where the frame cutout radiuses downward at the very top / rear of the cutout. when you click the trigger forward, you're actually forcing the trigger bar to follow the cutout downward. Steve is partially right, the question is also is the used K9 working OK??? If it is then IMO get used to it. If it does not need to go that extra 1/8" to reset everything then ur ok, If u have to push it ofrward to make the gun work, that is different, then u have an issue. Otherwise consider it as trigger reset "over travel" like pulling the trigger and getting trigger over travel the utter way.
I checkedmy used NYPD K9 trigger out and it works basically like Steve stated and to be totally onest I have never noticed it either, as it never interfereed with functioning etc. It is what it is... My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

take off the grips and look to see if the trigger bar has a rough or sharp spot on it where it meets the cocking cam.
That is all theory based on it all working like the polymer Kahr's. I don't have a K9 but my CW45 did the exact same thing until i fixed it.The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

It's an institutional ego thing, as well as protecting a lot of internal NYC Fiefdoms.
I sell HVAC equipment. Thankfully NYC isn't in my territory. NYC has a whole set of rules, regulations and unreasonable requirements the rest of the country doesn't have for heating equipment. In fact, manufacturers have to jump through hoops (and pay fees) to even be approved for sale in NYC. Not on the list, you're not selling anything.
While I am sure it began as the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) doing their due diligence, it degenerated into a corrupt mess. The mindset is that NYC is unlike anyplace else in the country. I call Shenanigans. They're only different in their own minds. It's corrupt morons justifying their own existence.
I see the whole NYPD trigger thing as the same baloney. Kahr tried to accommodate their silly rules and did for a while. But they gave an 1/8" and NYC wanted a mile. When it became unreasonable, Kahr made a business decision to bail on it. I don't blame them.
The upside to this is that many of us ended up with awesome used K9's when we'd otherwise not have even looked at them. So, Nanny Bloomberg, keep being a bonehead and costing your city money to stroke everyone's ego. We mere peons from the Lower 50 states appreciate your ignorance.sigpic

That notch in the rail is supposed to be there
"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."
