I ordered a 22lb recoil and a 5lb striker spring... took bout 2 weeks to get em.... . Not bad.

Well ive run 425 rds so far with ZERO failures. Zero. But its 15 yrs old. So.

I open her up swap the goods and wow. For a 2lb increase it feels at least 5 heavier. Trigger was veeeeeeery nice , noticeable difference.

So i manually rack her full stroke 250 times so far. Still much heavier. Not bad tho. I like it feels solid and positive ya know

Leads me to think my stocker was sacked out... so what is the common service life of a k40 recoil and striker spring.??

Im keeping as i know it works just incase. . And the new recoil sp also came with a standard str. Striker spring. So i have a new stock tension backup too.

I've heard from 1,000 to 1,200, to 1,500 rounds. I don't worry about mine but I have spare springs ready IF I have trouble. My K9 is from early '98 and I don't think that I've changed its springs, yet. I did put 5-lb striker springs in all 7 Kahrs. We've never had any bad reports on that change. I have a LOT of Wolff springs... lots of extras for all of my Kahrs and the XD45... recoil and magazine springs. Now I have a mess of new Glock mags and maybe I ought to get some for those, too. I tried to get one apart but had no luck. I haven't tried since a few trips to the range, though. The manual didn't help and that plastic on plastic didn't want to budge... even dragging the base on the carpet as shown in the manual!

I have the 22# recoil spring and the 5# striker spring in my P9. They're keepers In a .40 I think a 24# might be a better choice, but IDK

UR COMPARING A WORN FACTORY RECOIL SPRING to a new 2# heavier sprng. It should fee like a 54# difference. Ur factory sprin is no longer the original poundage that it was when new. Comparing a new factory spring of 20# to the 22# is hardly noticeable. U just more than likely had a well worn broke in factory spring in the gun, certainly it was working grea for u, so IMO it was not worn out.the striker spring iMO , they just won't wear out, they might loose sme of the facotry setting in poundage but that is not a bad thing either. U might go from a facotry pondage of 6.5# new to after a 500 rounds might indeed test out to be around 5#, so less is good in this case to. ur good to go, just shoot it likeu stole it..

Paid 1039 out the door for a flat top with flip up sights...... cheaper than dirt has a sightless flat top for 1795. Wtf over. .

Hate to look foolish, but does the 5# striker spring mean that it lightens the trigger pull poundage?

yes but not he trigger travel, it stays the same..

^, and it doesn't cause light strikes. Just makes that trigger even smoother and about a lb lighter.

my 5# spring has beeninmy pMJ9 for over 32K round and never a light striker, I would alsmost bet with a good trigger gauge my triggeris closer to 4# than 5#. Just sayin.

I polished all the moving parts while I had it apart.
