Gonna get one or the other, might even get the Elite. This is for winter carry. Wondering if the weight difference is noticeable? Is the grip size different? Seems the K with rubber or wood grips would be slightly larger.

It wouldn't make much difference in a proper holster on a proper belt. If you want to pocket carry or use some other unconventional carry mode, you'll notice it very much.http://bawanna45.wix.com/bawannas-grip-emporium#!

IMO the weight would be very noticeable. I have an MK40 and it's slightly lighter than the K. Although the MK is a bit smaller than my PM9, I can pocket carry the PM but not the MK. The K would be relegated to the belt, where it would be heavier than three of my 45's. I will add though, that the extra weight of the MK makes it easier to shoot than the PM9, and I'm sure the same would be true of the K.

Weight may make a difference...
I have a CW9 which is about the same weight as a P40 (15.8 vs. 16.8 ounces). And I also have a K40 which is my primary EDC. I wear both in the same CrossBreed SuperTuck. The weight differential is noticeable IMO. I am big framed guy, so I don't mind the extra 7+ ounces of the K40 and, therefore, carry it almost every day. And as many have already mentioned, the extra weight is very nice in reducing recoil too.
So, it will all depend on you and your preferences for carry. The bottom line is that it has to be comfortable for you. If a K40 is unbearable to carry, then it is not an option because you will not carry it.
Finally,... if aesthetics matter to you, then +1 for the K40!

Gotta say I'm torn on this whole weight issue. On one hand I personally prefer to carry the heavier gun that I shoot better. I feel safer knowing that I have a better chance of hitting target under stress. However I also understand kotfly's point about not carrying a gun you find uncomfortable. Can't hit anything if the gun's at home. I just ask that you don't split ounces and consider iwb or owb carry vs. pocket carry if that gets you the better gun. Your preference counts. It's your choice. It's your life.O|||||||O
