Looking at the pics again what is that twisted piece that goes to the primer area. The firing pin?

My guess would be a heavy paper clip or wire, used in an attempt to pull out the shell casing.

Looks like the mag spring. The follower is gone.

That notch in the rail is supposed to be there

That is the mag spring after I looked at the next to last pic. The case is blown in the side and not chambered fully so no support?

Wow, that is not a pretty sight. I actually had something similar happen to my Taurus 709 slim and a buddy had it happen to a glock he was using and it was ammo related. I am not sure what ammo but it was bought from a gun show... I am definitely going to be checking what ammo I buy if its not in a factory box.. I am following this thread since my P380 is having issues. Although my K9 seems to be plugging along well. I would be upset to see this happen to my gun..

This thread does not look good for Kahr. The OP laid out $90 to ship the gun back to them, received no response to emails for updates, and then was told to take a hike. I don't know about the rest of you, but this does not look like customer "service" to me. Even if the fault was the round, which I believe it probably was, you would think Kahr would do something. At least repair it at cost. If it were me and they quoted me that much to repair it I would tell them to shove it up their donkey and I would take my business elsewhere. And I was considering a CW380 for a summer pocket gun. Not so much anymore.

Why is everyone hounding kahrs cs? Response was slow but I'm sure with holidays and demand they are a little behind. Give them a chance, also can't expect them to flip the bill to repair if it isn't their fault. With that expense they would lose the money they made on the original sale.

Let's wait for updates before we jump ship.

The company I work for spends millions annually on good will and even then have to be very selective. That is good business. It seems Kahr feels this was not their fault. Some good will would be nice but it would be just that: good will. I'm just glad Kinetic has all his fingers. Count your blessings. With that said, if it turns out to be Remington's fault, I would hope they step up. Kinetic deserves a break here.

As an example, I do business with Amazon and for clothing, LL Bean. I do so because right or wrong, they stand behind what they sell.

In reference to LL Bean, if I had a problem with a product I've worn for 1/2 a year, their response is "What can we do to make you happy".

I do business with these companies because while it may on occassion loss profit for them on a single item, they both make up for it in the end because of the money I spend.

When a company puts up road blocks and makes claims/help cumbersome, I stop doing business with them.

I used to be a huge H&K fan. From the early 80's, I hade invested a sizeable amount of money of well over a dozen products. With H&K's knowledge of my prior purchases by registration, the first time I went to them for help with a small problem, (one of my P9S grips developed a crack), they dismissed me.

They make a great product, but because of the way their customer service treated me, I have not purchased an H&K product in almost 10 years. The part I needed was probably no more than $10-$20 dollars, but the business they lost was in the thousands, no to mention how many people I have turned off to H&K.

Conversely, I owned numerous Sig Sauer products. I have yet to be disappointed with their service. I recently had a problem with a part that would cost $30 to purchase. I explained my problem to them which was my fault. I had damaged it.
Their response was to send me a replacement at NO CHARGE.
How many Sig's do I own and how many more will I purchase? More important, how many friends have heard this story.

Word of mouth advertising is the most effective. How much profit will Sig realize because of "good will".

Exactly Flieger. But it's still not an unlimited checkbook. Different business models and profit stuctures constrain a company's goodwill program. Businesses hope their customers appreciate the good will they can offer and hope they understand when they cannot.

To be clear. I am talking about good will -- not about being accountable for the quality of service and products. When a company is wrong they need to step up.

                              Update

Remington's ammo plant was closed over the holidays. I had emailed and left them a phone message. Remington did get back to me by email & phone. It was refreshing to hear a female Arkansas accent instead of an overseas accent, if you know what I mean. They did NOT want me to ship them the K9.

                              It took awhile, but:

                              - I got Remington & Kahr talking.
                              - Remington requested the repair invoice from Kahr
                              - Kahr responded and provided it to Remington
                              - Remington still needs the busted shell casing for inspecting
                              - Now I'm waiting again

I should mention that the high price of the repair was due to the high cost of the CTL grips to be replaced. Otherwise the repair would be considerably cheaper. I just want my weapon back. I'll keep you all posted, but this is a slow going process.

BEFORE I would ever spend $90 to send a gun back I would have taken it to my local gun dealer and paid him to send it back. Why are we not hammering the piss out of the postal people for fokking fgun owners. This is not kahrs fault what so ever.

Kahr and remington will get this fella right. What we think kahr should or should not do is not our decision. Sure we want this gun made whole again but why hammoer Kahr when it is not their fault. There is some liability behind when a company fixes sumpin that is not their fault but does so anyways. to many lawyers today just sitting there playing with themselves looking for any kind of busness. Just fact of life.

I do think kahr cold have made this fella a far better price but again, this is what I think. I feel remington wants that casing to indeed verify that it is their case and maybe even do soe foenic sh!t tothe case to verify it has never been tampered with kand then they will step up to the plate and work with the owner and kahr over this repair.

Let the system work. I think Kinetic has approaced this as good as he can. He felt he was not treated right with H & K and moved on, this might also be the case here for him. Sh!t happens. Goodwill goes a long way also, so that is why I do feel one or both companies will do the right thing. But heh, WTF $9k0 to ship a broken blown up gun back to the maker. That is fokking bull sh!t but we seem to over look that...

Course over the years I have shipped quite a few HIGH SPEED HOLE PUNCH parts back to gun makers rugular UPS for less than $15. IMO the first one who can get his d!ck out with the UPS people gets he best fokk. Just sayin
. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border
