CT grips on a K40

Who here runs CT grips? I just bought a K40 ELITE 98 that has a brand new set on it. Not particularly impressed. When I use a natural ready finger position my finger lays in front of the laser and lights me up. Also, I can't seem to draw the weapon without activating the laser. To what advantage is a laser anyway, besides the "cool" factor. Am seriously thinking of going back to the factory grips. I'm asking for opinions so have at it! Thanks.

You'll get both sides of the equation, asking this question. For me, I favor the laser. You get used to the pressure and grip. I see it as an advantage in low light situations and any time you can't raise your weapon to use the sights. Others don't see it so, and thats cool, too. Just like carrying at all .... it's simply a question you answer for yourself.

Other than having to use your firearm at night, I see no use. I have had firearms with lasers, and don't own any of them right now. I also only own one firearm with night sights. I feel that your best bet is to learn to point and shoot. I also hate anything with batteries.

Good points. If you have laser, you can still point and shoot. You can still use the sights....night sights, FO sights, big dot sights or not. Having a laser does not take away from point and shoot or sights. In fact, having the laser allows you to practice point and shoot much more often than at the range. It is a defense and a dry fire practice tool which once you have gotten used to, will enhance your shooting abilities without any doubt. If your hand is interfering with the laser, something is wrong someplace. If lasers are so bad, I wonder why the Seal Team uses them? Hmmmmm. To each his own. I have one on my PM, but not my competition gun. There is a time and place for everything.

I guess we should be using the firearms that they use, and dress in camo, and get an inflatable boat, and a helicopter. Practicing with a laser does nothing in the real world.............it will happen so fast, you won't even notice a laser. Don't forget to change out your batteries........I've seen firearms that had battery leak.

I 'love it' when irrelative superlatives are used to debate a point.

Ive seen firearms fired when someone forgot to put a bullet in them ... or an over pressure round damage a gun . By your logic, than, we should not use bullets.

If you don't like lasers, it's very cool ... you aren't being challenged for it.

Thanks so far for all the input. The issue is not with my hand as such. When my index finger is in its natural position and resting on the frame my knuckle gets lit up. I have to make a conscious effort to drop my finger slightly in order to get it out of the beam. None of my other guns have a laser so this one seems to exaggerate my finger position. Just gonna take time and training with the laser. Probably will leave it on anyway.

It was me who proudly mentioned it berettabone....not FLBri. It was just a point...and not a reason to get a chopper, raft or even a laser for that matter. LOL. Practicing with a laser IS practicing in the real world...and with FREE batteries for life from CT. I change them out regularly and practice with it regularly. But you are right in keeping your batteries up. Great tool!


I understand, Tascofeldman. It could be that that particular laser set up does not fit your hand well and may not work for you in a natural way. Give it a try and if you don't like it, simply take it off. No big deal really. Good luck with your new gun.

Never did I use the reference you ascribe to me, but If they give away free rubber rafts with a laser ... that WOULD be cool! One should never be without the other.

Well, I went and took the laser off after I rounded up a set of factory grips. Seems to fit my hand better now anyway. Gonna hang on to them, just in case the helicopter offer is retroactive.
