Does anyone feel that only 8 rounds are insufficient? I have both K9 (2), a MK9 (only 6+1) and a Glock 26 (10+1). Although I find the K9 more comfortable in hand, I am troubled by its lack of rounds.

That's why I carry a spare magazine in an on-belt Kydex holder... largest Kahr mag for the caliber... 8x9mm, 7x380, 7x40, and 7x45.
I also carry an extra magazine the same way on the rare occasion that I carry a Glock.
Extra bullets might be nice... or an extra magazine to replace one that may have fallen out in a scuffle! Be prepared... not just for Boy Scouts!
When I leave the house, an extra magazine is part of my EDC kit, as is my backup knife!

No one ever complained about having too many rounds during a gun fight. In my mind it would be like complaining about having a fire extinguisher with took much capacity.
I always carry a spare mag. and sometimes 2.
When there's a lot of tension or i'm traveling in a bad area I like to carry my CZ sp01 tactical with 17 + 1 (after market mag) and a spare mag.

Would I love to have lots and lots of ammo? Oh hell yes!
Do I carry an extra mag? Only rarely.
I carry every day, every where, all the time, except - at work, where my employer is anti-gun. I sleep with a loaded Kahr under my pillow. But for some strange reason, except for a very few times, no extra magazine.
Freud would probably have something to say, I'm sure.
OTOH, I've been pretty good about hittin' flushed birds quick, and gettin the right lead on a woodchuck or coyote in the heat of the moment. I don't feel "undergunned" with five or six shots of .45ACPs or .44Specials. To each his own though.

I go to the range often. 90% of the people I see there need all the ammo they can carry. 10% might only need 2 or 3 shots. There doesn't seem to be any thing in between. So I'm guessing if you don't panic, a couple of well placed shots might be all you need. I carry an 8 rounder as my EDC.
A friend of mine who carried a 1911 for years recently switched to a polymer pistol with 15 rounds, doesn't think 8 will do it anymore.
I have another friend that has been toting the same J-frame for decades. Would never think he's undergunned.
So I guess it all boils down to what you are comfortable with, only you can decide that.NRA Benefactor

8 rounds is fine if that makes you comfortable. If it were me and I were to carry my K9 as an EDC I would be okay with 8, plus a spare mag. I always carry a spare mag, not only to have extra rounds, but, in case of a mag malf. or a dropped mag.
However, my EDC is a Glock 26 with a spare mag.
