Trigger "hitch"

One of my Kahrs (steel frame 9mm) has a slight "hitch" in at the start of the trigger pull ... right as it starts to engage the cocking cam after the take up space. I've removed the grip and isolated the issue to the trigger bar where it engages the cocking cam ... but I can't get a good enough view of things to know if it is a bur on the cam or the trigger bar. I think it is the bar but even if it is, I can't get the trigger bar out far enough to touch it up with a file, or polish.

My question is this ... can the trigger bar be removed without pressing out the trigger pin and the cocking cam pin? Or will I need to have these pressed out before I can access the area properly? I can't seem to find a way to remove it otherwise and don't want to bend something I shouldn't.

not think so, how about putting some good ol grease in that cocking cam area and see if that can work itself out. I would not suggest trying to remove the pin, but thatisjust me. Make sure that possably it could not be that curly spring that rests on the bottom of the trigger bar, sometimes there is a slight burr on that portion of the bar where that sprig rides, and that should easily be smoothable without any disassembly. with the grtip off the right side that springhy thing is quite visible on the bottom of the trigger bar. often a culprit of this glitch feeling to.

I got, ya, Jocko. I have greased the cam well, and that has taken about half the issue away. It's not the spring under the bar ... that was the easy fix I was hoping it was but it's not. You only feel it when the striker is in partial cocked position and there is tension on the trigger. With the right side grip off I can see the bar jump sideways as it starts to pull the cam. If I physically hold the bar in tight to the frame with my finger while I pull, there is no hitch/catch. I'm sure that is the spot, either the trigger bar or the cam itself.

Like I said, I've got about half of it eliminated. I may just put some metal tape on the inside grip to shim and hold the bar tighter to the fame (as long as it doesn't bind up). If I force the slide to the left side (eliminating the slight side to side play in the slide) the issue is not there either.

no doubt it i the trigger bar. check to see if that right side grip is tight also. The grip actually holds that trigger bar in correct alighnment also. put a peace of black plastic tape on the back side of that grip where it is supposed to make contact with that trigger bar and reinstall the grip and see if that eliminates it. not to say that is tyhe correct thing to do, but I dont think u have an actuall burr there either just a misalignment situation andit is in the trigger bar. That trigger bas as u have notice just sits in that pocket in the cocking cam and the only thing that realy holds it in proper alignment is the back side of the grip. If u have the plastic tpe grip on ur kahr, take a blow dryer and with the grip off heat that top rear portion up and give it a bend inwards to see if that helps any. that trigger bar spring also plays a part of keeping it in alignment but they just don';t go bad either.

Kahrs wood grips for the metal steel framed gun have a metal plate on the back of that wood grip right i that area and it is there because of the qabove mentioned alignment. I had wood grips on my K9 and the screws wold work looks on the right side and then I would get light strkes. I knew what the reason was, so I just went back to my rubber factory kahr grips which they no longer make anymore..

oops sorry I missed ur statement about the metal tape, that would be alot better than plastic tape and it might just work fine to. If the gun goes bang every time, u will adapt also. Alot of guns stage anyway. a stage could be a hitch, click, stoppage before the bang thing or what ever one wants to call it

Gotcha ... it is the wood grips with the metal plate.

go back and try ur factory grips and see if that solves the issue.

But that's ok ... I GOT IT!

I went to the store and bought a set of needle files and reshaped the end of the trigger bar by pulling it just enough out of the way of the frame, but not enough to bend it. It took me a couple hours to find which surface was the culprit, but once I found it it is perfect. I Re cleaned all the surfaces and put in new grease .... Damn thing feels now like it runs on ball bearings.

My wife was working at the table that I was working on ... and she always thinks I'm way over the top with pickiness with these things, giving me plenty of crap with good humor. Than I told her this was going to be HER gun .... she was suddenly very encouraging of my efforts!
