  • New magazines packed in grease, reminder to clean them

I ordered four extra magazines for the wife's new T9 last week. Midway shipped them immediately and I had them in a couple of days. The mags were on the new black cardboard blister packs. I opened them up yesterday and noticed that the mag bodies felt sticky, so I took them apart to see what the inside looked like. The springs were coated with something similar to cosmoline (sticky brown grease), and it was all over the bottom of the follower, base plate, and the inside of the mag tube. The followers would not drop free of the dirty tube. I cleaned the springs with solvent and throughly wiped down everything else, then reassembled. I don't know that the gunk would've impacted function, but I like stuff clean.

I usually buy polymer mags (Glock, Magpul) so I haven't really thought about this in the past. I have only purchased a couple of Kahr CW9 magazines in the plastic bags previously, but they weren't gunked up. I'm posting this as an FYI to those in similar shoes.
    Kahr PM9, P380, T9, CW9, and a crapload of Glocks.

Every kahr magazine I've bought has been filled with gunk. Good reminder to clean them before using.
I've lost my memory, and I can't remember where I put it.
