Much of the service life depends on the condition of the firearm as its being shot.
Shot in clean conditions - they tend to last a long long time.
Shot in adverse conditions.... depends... cleaning is much more crucial... dirt=wear.... so ... you can make 'em last if you make them clean - always.
I put perhaps... 40,000 rounds of 22LR thru my first Mark-I target... I put 1000 just to break it in well... in one night! Yes, 20 boxes. Then it got the Clark parts... and another 1000 ...
No worse the wear. CLEAN is the secret.

I've heard that Kahr pistols completely disintegrate after thirty two thousand and one shots. Don't know if that's true. Just sayin".
