PM9 Fails to return to battery

I purchased a PM9 several years ago for my daughter. It functioned without error, then I re-installed the locking pin in wrong after cleaning and had to return it to be removed. After another break in period I noticed the polymer was being cut into on the side of the slide. I removed what had been cut out, cleaned the gun.
I've been back 2 timed to the range and at 50-80 rounds, it will lockup and refuse to return to battery. I can dissemble it (which is hard to get apart at that point), clean and reassemble and it functions well.

Has anyone had this problem?

I'm sure someone will have a better answer than me, and that would be good.
My friend just bought a CW9, and as I was showing him the proper prep, I noticed a piece of stainless steel rail on the slide that wasn't machined out properly. I was thinking that if it started to break off, it could cause all kinds of problems. So we got out the deburring knife and was able to cleanly cut it out. Now that I think of it, I wish I would have taken a photo. So my thought is... Look at the stainless rails carefully to see if there is anything sharp that may be dragging on the plastic, or anything that looks out of place. Since you know where the plastic is being cut, look at the part of the slide rails there.

Does the lug on the bottom of the barrel look damaged?

sumpin has changed slightly since u put the pin in wrong. I think what one member psoted about checking the slide rails for any ruff areas is a good start. I think I would also put in a new recoil spring.
u did not say if u have the old style slide (with blunt nose) or the new style slide (which is beveled at the front.

I can't see how putting the slide pin in wrong would have caused what ur having either. U gotta start smewhere, so IMO a new recoil assembly would bemy first place. When u say lockup up, does that mean it locks open, or ju st stays open part way or what..

I would ask you to do this if possable. if it does it again, just quit shooting and come back in a hour or so or the next day even. don't do anything to the gun such as cleaning. See what happens then. My point being is this, if the gun has to go back to kahr, don't expect them to shoot 50-80 rounds to duplicate what ur having, so send it back at the round count that is causing the problem. Document everything to them as u have here and let them know that ur sending the gun back at round number??? and it now locking up as u stated.

hae u tried to shoot defense (hotter) ammo to see if does it when u get to the spot where it starts to act up. Good grease lube in the rails might be something to do to see what happens. U gotta start somewhere to eliminate the possables.

Look at the polymer rails and see if u can see where the damage is, and then with some 600+ grip paper ust smooth that area. The polymer rails are only there to aid in proper installaion of the slide. Once on the gun, the slide should ride .right past those rails and not touch them. It could be u have not sanded n the right area yet.. U can sand insiede the rails with this 600+ paper andnot hurt a thing. SMOOTH IS GOOD..

I would check that barrel lug to and makes ure there is no burrs iside that lug. U can polish it to a mirror finish with no harm ad then lube that lug and pin.
