Is it ok to use this to prevent the grip screws from loosening on my mk40? Do you guys recommend something else for this?

Yes! Don't use red on anything you might want to unscrew... considered PERMANENT. The torque and or heat required to break THAT bond are risky for a lot of parts and materials.
The Green is a penetrating threadblocker for things already assembled... and pretty stout.
Purple low strength, blue medium strength (best) for gun screws that need removal or adjusting.
None of this stuff is supposed to be used on polymer or plastic, as its bond can be stronger than the material... like the polymer frame and its plastic threads!
Here's a link to the info I posted before:

On that info link someone suggested fingernail polish... but don't use the remover stuff... acetone based! The high-tech glues are making molecular bonds... so not good for plastic in most cases... bond stronger than the material and removal makes a bigger hole!

purple locktite is the best for grip screws. It will break fre easily. as far as polymer goes, I have never read where locktite shouldnot be used, but it seems that locktite in polymer does not work like steel against steel . Only thing on a polymer kahr should be that little spr9inghy on the left side that holds the slide lock lever in place.some have used blue locktite and caimed results. If it was mine and I stripped those threads by improper tighening of that screw, I would use, suer glue or just good ol fingernail poli9sh. both will allow what theads are left in the polmer frame to heal witht he metal screw.
The smaller the screws is when one wants to get away from red and even some blue locktite, and for sure the penetrating green... My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

Thanks so far guys and jocko the gun is an mk40 but I think the grips are plastic does this matter? And would you suggest purple rather than blue for my purpose?
P.S. Jocko I cleaned and lubed the mk40 and ran another 100 rounds through her she ran great :-)Justin moon is my hero

use the purple, it is the weakest and it will not hurt the grips. It will hold perfectly but yet allow u to remove wnen needed. I think they are a plastic type grip but somewhat pliable to, and I don';t think the locktite wll harm that grip what so ever. I buy y purple at Gander mt... It is normally next to their jar of KY jelley for gun buyers and ammo buyrers.. Just sahin. The Permatex is all I can find locally... other than the Brand X at Harbor Freight... the Chinese Tool Store. The Green Permatex is a LOT more powerful than the Loctite Green, though... and flows too easily... the penetrating stuff. Use the Purple or Blue for gun and scope screws that you might want to loosen sometime in the future. Red in either is considered PERMANENT... and we're talking molecular bonding with regard to plastic... so DON'T!
