The polymer-framed pistols line up differently than the K-models! Read the correct part of the manual and WATCH the Take Down Video!!

Welcome to the Kahrtalk forum supported by Kahr Arms.
Here are a few essential links and things to do BEFORE you take your new pistol to the range, and ESPECIALLY BEFORE taking it apart and trying to re-assemble it! The Kahr is a different design… 6-7 unique patents cover the Kahrs. I’m not trying to imply that you don’t know anything about guns, but many don’t know anything about the Kahrs and some of the things you can do to damage or cause malfunctions of your new, or new-to-you Kahr pistol.
First, if you don’t have a manual, yet, or one didn’t come with your pistol, you can download the pdf file here:
    http://www.kahr.com/PDF/kahrmanual.pdf
Impatient? Watch one of these videos FIRST! These videos can point out possible problem areas and emphasize correct procedures!
    Take down and re-assembly videos:
    T, TP, CW, P, & PM/CM Series:

    MK series:

    K series:
    http://www.kahr.com/Pistols/Kahr-K9-Elite.asp
There are many links on fixing problems listed in several places… under the New Member or Kahr Tech sub-forums.
A very handy one is the Kahr Lube Diagram:
    http://kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?t=14750
Many of your questions can be answered in these areas and you can learn how your Kahr works and not damage it with improper handling.
    Frequently asked questions: http://www.kahr.com/faq.asp?

There are many helpful members here most of the time who might be able to help you, but as anywhere, there are many opinions and not all are correct. Be mindful of this before doing anything drastic to modify your pistol!

I didn't do any of that when I got my CM9, except read the manual. I didn't even know about KahrTalk.com until later. I've TRIED to put things together wrong when people have posted problems, and have been unsuccessful in duplicating the problem.

That makes me wonder if there's something actually wrong with this one.

P.S. YES, that notch in the rail is supposed to be there!

Does the slide move at all? Like even a fraction of an inch in either direction? Try to ease the slide back just a fraction of an inch while putting pressure on the trigger. You should hit a spot where it will allow you to pull the trigger and hopefully then the slide will come off.

If the marks were properly aligned tapping the pin with the plastic handle of a screw driver should have freed it for easy removal with your fingers. Nothing holds the pin in place except for a tiny spring. Once the pin was removed you should have eased the slide forward instead of allowing it to slam shut. Gun parts do not normally have to be forced.

I just disassembled my CM9 to the point that you described. The slide sits about 1/8" forward of where it normally sits when the gun is in battery. It could be that the guide rod or guide rod spring is preventing the slide from moving back. With the gun sitting on a flat surface and pointing straight up try bumping the slide with the heel of your hand. If that doesn't free up the slide use a plastic hammer or screw driver handle and gently tap it. Don't go nuts and beat on the gun. If this frees up the slide, pull the trigger and remove the slide. If not, let us know.

being the slide willnot go forward anymore. Iam thinking that what is holding it from going foward is really not holding it frm goig backward. I think the front of the slide needs a good swift hit with a ruber mallet or 2 by 4. tomove it back ward. I see nuttin u can hurt either..

How do u think kahr is gonna get it off???
. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

I don't think that a 2X4 is on the armors tool list. I always try to use my head before going to a sledge hammer or cutting torch. Just sayin.

not sure I mentioned either one of those options though. He could also just push the slide against a solid object if he wanted to try it. Not to sure armorers come across this issue either. He can't take the slide apart with it being forward as the backing plate is now in a spot where it can't be done, so some type of force is gonna be needed...

course I never thought about banging it aganst urhead either. Just sayin

Slamed closed????? It could not have moved more that 1/2 inch to be fully closed. Just how far open did you have it? Sounds like newby error to me.
