  • I've gone polish crazy.

I have seen a couple of threads and pics of some shiny Kahrs and who doesn't want a shiny gun? I Lready polished the trigger components, but I have now polished the barrel for smooth slide action. And this afternoon I went to work om the slide. I polished the sides to a nice high gloss, but left the fop more of a matte to keep any glare interfering with the sights. Its so pretty! I then decided to polish up the magazines to help them drop free even more efficiently. And I finished it all up with a polished guide rod.

On the polish work, I used Mother's Mag and Aluminum compound. Good stuff!

I did about the same thing to my CM9 one weekend. I went from 400, to 1000, to 1500, to 2000 grit paper then mag polish on the sides of the slide. It was just a bit too shiny for me. Actually it was almost mirror like and showed every finger print. So the next weekend I went back to 400 grit all one direction the entire length of the slide. which gives it the finish of brushed aluminum. I like it better that way. It looks about like yours does.

I may do it to my CW45 but I'm not sure yet.

It's amazing he things that you come up with to do when you don't want to shoot your ammo. I think it's an obsession.
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

      Nice work!
I like how the slide is kind of a brushed shiny. I think that would be a good finish if you get a scratch because you can just "re-brush" it.

Yeah, I didn't want a mirror finish. I was kind of going for the same look the Ruger SR9 has. Polished smooth on the sides and matte on top. I'm happy with it. I just wish I could find the night sights now. I can't find them anywhere.

            I've gone polish crazy.

I ordered my Big Dot sights from XS...

It only took a couple of weeks to get, which isn't bad considering the current craziness.

These will go on my PM9 once I can pick it up. I may get some for my CW9 too. But I need to slow down a bit on the money spending. I am not quite as bad as Barth, but I have averaged about 1 gun a month for the past 4 months. Ouch! I gotta save up for ammo or these are going to be some expensive paperweights!

. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

Looks Great AdamSean. Did you do everything by hand or was a wheel involved as well?

Wow, nice work. I am going to do my barrel, what was your process if you don't mind sharing? Did you use a dremel? That was my plan.

I used a Dremel on the barrel with a polishing felt pad. On the slide I used the Mother's Mag and Aluminum compound and a cotton cloth.
