  • Dry Firing a Kahr

I know with my Glock, dry firing is not a problem.

Was curious if it was also ok to do with my Kahr?

Well you have to pull the trigger to disassemble, just like the Glock, so I can't imaging it being a problem.

I've dry fired mine hundreds, possibly thousands of time without issue.

Page 13 of the manual also states that after unloading pull the trigger to release tension on the striker.

You know I wondered about this too and read the Q/A item that lunde posted, but I read on some forum that a guy said he was dry firing and noticed that it had damaged the tip of his striker. Metal flaking off.

I wondered if maybe he just had a bad striker to begin with, however it would seem safer to use a snap-cap when dry firing a lot wouldn't it ?

What absorbs the force of the striker when the gun is dryfired ?
Is it the firing pin hole or the flange of the striker inside the channel ?
Where are we going and why am I in this hand-basket?

When I dry fire, I use snap caps, and don't worry about it.

That's what I do as well.

I had an issue that may or may not be related to dry firing with snap caps - the extractor and extractor pin fell out. IF it had something to do with the snap caps, it was only in conjunction with resetting the trigger while trying to keep the last snap cap chambered (my fault). I may have induced the fault somehow, so in an attempt to avoid that problem, and, since Kahr says its OK to dry fire with nothing in the chamber, I think I will now go that route.

While it may be OK, snap caps are cheap insurance.

                          Dry firing question

When using snap caps you have to rack the slide to reset the trigger. Is there another easier (quicker) method?

actually not re rack the slide, just move it back about 1/4 inch and it should reset..
