Magnaporting is money wellspent in my opinion. I can feel the difference...even the gunsmiths at Ahlmans are impressed when they have shot my gun.

It's not much of a fokker anymore. Age has reduced it to a pee shooter.

I've got a CW45. Would porting help the muzzle flip any or is porting just for higher velocity calibers?

How much velocity did you loose porting those short barrels?

The bullets just fall out of the end of the barrel on Jocko's PM9J. Then he picks them up and throws them at the target. At least that's what his targets indicate that he's doin'. Just sayin'.

magna port stated around 6% loss. Heh, I lu8v ported guns, they do reduce recoil, they do certainly reduce muzle flip. they seem louder becuase the sound now is redirected. Sure stick it under your nose and pull the trigger and u will end up looking like Muggsy at age 6. Do the same thing with a non ported gun and my thiniking is the results would be the same. If you don't like it, move on, but until you try it, then not sure your really qualified to give your own findings.

Like thecolonel stated, magna porting looks great on any gun, they do the process anbd never fokk with the finish either, so it is a clean perfect job. They have been doinbg this for over 35 years. Not sure just drilling holes produces the same results either, but again each to his own. Shoot any snub wheel gun and the report is awesome, porting it makes no difference. I would think the same goes for short barreld semis to. 9mm certainly is not in the recoil classification as the 40 cal , but I ported my new G43 and believe me what a hellof a difference it made for that gun. Is it louder, well to be honest, I shoot with muffs on, now that I hve only 50%hearing left, so the report of any gun I shoot be it ported or not is nadda to me.

One thing about portng, once u do it u can't go backwards, ur stuck wityh it, especally in a wheel gun. My Model 60 that was made in 1968's is ported. looks great, probably does little to cut the sound and I never shoot it anymore anyhow. Porting is not ornamental, it does work, some guns better no doubt, Big ass calibers, should show some drastic improvement. I never was a big fan of those slow ass 45's . I can't imagine a 45 being so loud, being they are slower than muggsy tryinbg to , oh well I will stop there...Just sayin

I have the same target that I have been shooting at for over 5 years now, bet u can't say that. I am very conservative. I can hit that target if I wanna but I just am trying tos ave paper. Sometimes I just sit in a chair and point at the target, and go bang bang, I get about the same results as when I shoot live fire. NO HOLES IN THE PAPER. Just sayin

I bought the ported barrel for my CW40. It helps with Muzzle flip, recoil isn't much different. It was less expensive than magna-porting, and can be returned to stock condition by butting the original barrel back in. It works for me. And even though the gasses are vented straight up in front of my front sight, I don't really see any increase in muzzle flash at least during the day. And it's certainly no problem for my next shot.

I got one for my P9 and the blast is thrown forward and away. I couldn't see any difference between it and the regular barrel.

I just shot my Mag-na-ported P40 and had too many FTF's and decided that I'll be carrying the PM45 or the P9 for a while. I wore my G30S when I left the range... at least 750 rounds so far with it and only had one problem... the ammo-related squib from the Federal Champion FMJ factory ammo... and I can shoot better with it! I just need a glove and a Band-Aid on my trigger finger! I can forgo that for defense use, though.

That being my main carry pistol, I was perturbed a bit. Most of the mags gave me some kind of problem... failure to feed, empty chamber, or FTF with the bullet c0cked at about 45° in the chamber, and some failures for the slide to lock back. I'm glad I found that out before needing to use the pistol for self defense!

Just in case, since I was shooting the G30S, too, I had my holster and mag carrier for it. It has been error free and really accurate, so I loaded it up and carried it the rest of my outing.

I've learned to not depend on one particular pistol for carry after a range trip.

You won't see muzzle flash during the day, but most serious social engagements occur after dark. You had better hit what your aiming at with your first shot, because you'll be half blind like Jocko after shooting a ported barrel at night. Check out this article.
