These are great ideas! I just took down my K9 yesterday and that tool would have come in handy

“Laws that forbid the carrying of arms . . . disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes . . . Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.”

How often should one do this detailed strip and clean? I have never done it on any of my Kahrs but maybe i should.

Many never do, just use the clean out hole with some brake cleaner and all is well. If your not having having light strikes or issues no problem.

I took mine down before I fired them the first time just because there were rumors that there was machining residue left inside the striker channel and I wanted to see first hand. All of mine were pristine and lightly oiled. A little blast of cleaner would have cured it.

Others may have benefited from a take down.

It's not difficult, course they say brain surgery isn't difficult if you know how so it's not a bad thing at all to do. It kind of is a warm feeling to know what it looks like and how it works, kind of empowering.

I seldom take mine down, once every year or two probably. Long enough that I have to think a bit before I do it. The little bent coat hanger is a huge help, and working inside a big freezer bag at least until you know what to expect is a good idea too.

I always thought it was "working inside a big freezer". I've been detail stripping mine inside a meat locker.

I'll mail you one. I have lots. The key is to ensure it's sealed up air tight once your inside so the little springs have no where to escape.

Remember take your time in the bag, when you hurry, that's when accident's happen.

If you get a little light headed pay no mind, that's just the joy of working on your own gun. Nothing of concern. Kind of euphoric. That means happy, figured I'd save ya having to look it up.

Real quick question. Does this takedown work on the California models with the LCI?

                    • Info seems good, but what's going on here? I have to go and register on a Glock forum to learn how to take a Kahr pistol apart? Are you guys that hard up for storage space? I spent about 15 minutes looking for the @#$%^& PDF file!

I'm not speaking for the site administrators and the following is speculation on my part.
Michigun originally posted his work on GT and it was linked here. I guess no one saw the need to steal his work and store it here. I also don't believe there was a need to register on GT when the .pdf was first linked (I don't think it was an attachment then either).
Anyway, I did a quick Google search and found the direct link and have added that on the first page.
                        Thanks for the heads up.
                        Regards,
