  • Used K9....what do I need to do...?

I bought a used K9, vintage around 1997. I don't know how many owners it's had, perhaps only one other. I have no idea how many rounds it has seen. I took it to the range today and it functioned fine. I had previously disassembled it, cleaned it, done a visual inspection, lubed it and hand cycled it, all seemed in order. The gun is tight and the recoil spring seems stiff.

So, what, if anything might I need to do as a PM for this gun? Should it go back to Kahr for a 100K check? Should I simply replace some springs and such?

I'd just treat it like new, give a good clean and lube and shoot it. If it balks then we'll look at what it needs. At most maybe a recoil spring. I suspect it's good to go and will keeping going for a long spell.

See if it's broke before we try to fix anything.

Good! That's what I was hoping to hear.

The gun doesn't show any signs of having an issue. I just don't know, have no idea, how many rounds have gone through it. The only issue I've had was at the range yesterday. I cleaned and lubed the gun with Slide Glide lite and used gun oil on the parts other than the rails, barrel and pin.

Out of 100 rounds, there were three stove pipes which I put down to either the lube or limp wristing or both. I really don't think it had anything to do with the gun or the magazine.

First outing I wouldn't be concerned about 3 out of a 100. It takes a bit to get used to it, the long trigger, the size etc and it's quite easy to get a little lax and they do like a solid grip.

My PM45 beans me in the forehead the minute I get sloppy. Kind of a hey wake up call. While it sometimes stings a bit and I revert to sailor talk I don't mind, I deserve it.
