  • I joined the Kahr Club today. Bought my first Kahr

Got a MK9, need an IWB holster if anyone has an opinion. Any other tips on this pistol will be much appreciated, I'm a 1911 guy, and this is the first striker fire I have owned in a long long time.

A inexpensive decent holster is a Remora - works fine, but a bit rough against the skin for extended carry if you don't wear tshirts under your top concelament shirt. Not designed for reholstering in the beltline unless you buy the reinforced mouth verison (I didn't).

I plan to order one of the Ritchie Leather Works holsters ($$) next week.

I'm jealous...I'd love to have the MK9 to go along with my K9. I've had the MK40 in my hand and that pistol felt great but 9mm is the round I prefer. Hopefully someday I'll be able to find one. Congrats on your find...

You might as well start out with the best holster IMO, it is the Garret, Silent Thunder Slim. IWB with soft leather inside and Kydex outside. You can re-holster without looking and you can feel the holster "grip" your gun when you put the gun into it. Will cost you around $90 and well worth it.

                    Absolutely beautiful. Congratulations.

With the K40, not even as tiny as your MK, I found a few challenges. Very successful, long-standing habits and a very familiar, consistent grip that works with my M&P single action guns just doesn't work with the K40, and you have to get used to the fact that you've gotta press that thing. Not the slightest issue with a little real-world adrenaline, though.

Anyway, be sure to let us know how you progress with it--what a beauty!

Great gun. I recently got an MK40 and it shoots like a charm. I read your post with interest, because I just got my first 1911. I grabbed an STI Trojan 5 (45 cal.) a couple of days ago, and I have not had it to the range yet.

The STI Trojan is one of the best 1911's for the money. I think the hard chromed is beautiful. I have shot that model a few times, great crisp trigger, nice controls, accurate and really has a nice feel. I wish my LGS stocked STI, I have considered the Trojan and the Ranger II in the past but I'm pretty partial to Dan Wesson and Les Baer, give those a try as well if you get a chance. Enjoy the new purchase. The 1911 platform is addicting.

Gotta love the name Trojan.. U could advertise it like" YOUR ALWAYS COVERED WITH A TROJAN".

                          Just sayin

or "WITH A TROJAN, U GET NO BANG BEFORE ITS TIME"
