MK40 ~ Slip on Grip Sleeves

I want to use a grip slip on sleeve just because it gives the smaller handguns a little more traction. I'm torn between the Pachmayr and the Hogue. I like the Pac because of the texture and finger groove, I think it would fit nicely on the MK because of the squared cut.
The Hogue is sticky grippy but more rounded.

Any suggestions on which would be a better choice?

you can do a intertube grip from a bicycle and get more traction for a fraction of the cost. Or get some wood grips with checkering would work too. Another thing I've considered with my stock kahr grips is to stipple them. They would give you great traction if you did that!

Or if you have wood grips get them checkered, that's an option too.

My favorite slip on grip is the Quik Grip. I think it looks the cleanest of them all. I think they are on temporary hiatus right now but there might be some available.

They do not have the finger groove if you want that.

I used the innertube myself and eventually restippled my grip and did away with the slip on all together.

I have Hogue on several of my pistols and really like them all. Ruger LCP, Ruger MarkIII, Beretta 92, RIA 1911. They're all nice and I bet I didn't pay more than $15 for any one of them ant that probably included shipping.

I don't feel the need to have one on my MK, but I did put a Pachmayr on my Sig, with the finger grips............me likey................and , I know a lot of people hate ebay, but I got mine for $11.00 with free shipping..................

I use a Hogue Handall Jr, inverted, on my MK40.
Can't imagine shooting it without that.
The little MK can be a handful with full power ammo.
And the Hogue sleeve really helps.

BTW my particular MK really seems to favor 180 gr sub sonic ammo.
Very soft shooting and accurate.
I'm running Speer GDHP Short Barrel for self defense.

I prefer the checkered wood grips. A little thicker and more to hold on to. I agree that's a little hand cannon. Makes me grin just thinking about it.

I've never put aftermarket grips on any of my guns, but two or three came with Hogue or Pachmayr from the factory. I would probable use a QuickGrip or something similar on the Kahrs, but I wear gloves at the range. I would never notice the cheese grater grip if I had to use the pistol in anger.

But do when I pump iron.
The Kahr is too slippery and narrow for me as it came from the factory.
And my HK USP Tactical 45 is absolutely a cheese grater.
Both, for me, ergonomically are much improved with Hogue grip sleeves.

Any steel 45 will do: MK, K, T...C'mon Kahr! I bought the closest I could find = Para LDA and it has a set of Bawanna grips on it. I love it but I still yearn for a K45. Close but no cigar.

I know it doesn't look great, but the Hogue sleeve works to great a solid grip on the MK.

Someone out there like VZ grips should make something in G10 for the Kahr. After all they make grips for the Rohrbaugh R9 and it's not like there's one of those in everyone's garage.

Since there is only one choice for a replacement, someone should make a G10 grip for the Kahr. I'll bet they would sell (at least to fellow forum members) and someone could make a bundle.

Well, to each his own - I prefer gloves to prevent wearing raw spots on the web of my thumb. This isn't true for all pistols, but some. At least the same pair of gloves fits all my guns.

I agree about the USP, but since the grip verges on being too thick for me on my 40, I won't add a slipon grip. My USP compact 45 and HK45c are slightly thinner. To me the Kahrs are about the same texture as the FS USP. My hands must be smaller because I don't find the Kahrs too thin.
