  • MK is one sexy piece....need help !!!

Guys I'm really tapped out here as I've bought some old antique rifles (I have a small collection of .22's) and around 5 handguns in the last few months... promised the wife I wouldn't buy anymore guns even though I sold my Sebenza 21 to fund a cw380 she doesn't know about (yet).....

I'm really, really interested in the MK series pistols, especially the elite03 series.... Maybe a 40 not sure as I haven't really checked the specs on it compared to the 9 overall dimensions, weight, capacity etc... but man..... just been salivating over the steal frame... coming from a glock guy I'm really starting to get worried here....

Help talk me out of the desire to own one, tell me she's a whore and it just wasn't meant to be.... anything......

this is really sick as I haven't ever even shot a kahr until I take mine out tomorrow... and I've already bought two.....

What it looks like when it arrives.

A Kahr, a Glock, a Ruger, two Brownings, two Remingtons, and a Crossman.

The size between the 9 and 40 are near identical. Only the slide is just slightly beefier. Everything else is identical. the 40 holds one less round.
If you are recoil sensitive, the 40 can be snappy in an MK. The 9 is a sweetheart.
No one here is going to talk you out of it! These are great pistols.

            Try http://www.gunwatcher.com

They list a blemished Kahr MK40 for $546 at Buds Gun Shop. That is a superb deal.

I didn't think you guys would talk me out of it

not sensitive with the 40 as I shoot a G27 a LOT and love it.. I like 9's more after shooting a couple hundred or more of 40's then grabbing a 9, I seem to get quicker follow up shots as the recoil is almost nil especially with 147gn...

Does the 40 have a supported chamber?? tight tolerances of the chamber?? After thinking about it I may lean toward the nine as my Gen 3 40's don't necessarily have major glock bulge but are looser (im sure) than most nonetheless...

at best they will bulge a factory .420 casing to .422 and only at the very base of the case, so while 2 thousandths is really negligible and cannot be seen with the naked eye it may be just enough to make it a little finicky for tighter chambers... I'm really not up for d-glocking my brass...

I know I will have one of these beauty's down the road but I think I may ask around locally for someone with a mk40 and see if it will take some of my handloads, if not 9 is fine

an elite03 with some sexy burl wood I have laying around would be sweet...

Fantastic pistols. I have an MK40 (now for sale here ) and a K40 (larger size suited my purposes better). They are outstanding weapons, and were 100% out of the gate. The one issue I have with the MK40 (cosmetic) was repaired by Kahr quickly, with them covering postage both ways. You just can't beat that.

I'd have no problem recommending a MK40 or 9. Solid, well engineered, and reliable. I'll be buying more in the future.

Find a used one. It won't hurt as much.

I don't think the recoil is an issue with the MK40. The Pm40 might be for some people as it's about 1/2 pound lighter. I think the MK is a sweet shooting pistol and if I had to sell off some guns, it would be one of the last to go.

I've got an MK 40 Elite and what I especially like about it is the weight dampens the recoil considerably. Mine has also been flawless in performance so far. Highly recommend if you don't mind carrying the extra weight.

We all are looking for the pefect gun. I don't believe exists, but the MK40 comes darn close. Before I discovered Kahr (all steel is the deal), I guess my Sig P239, P232-230, and j frame model 60 was it.

This summer I either carried the MK in my front pocket with the help of the Galco pocket protector (great holster), or my K40 which I carry on my left hip without a holster.

They are fantastic guns and yes, if I go out to the range, you will find me shooting my 1911's, full size Sig everything, etc.

I may not shoot the MK40 as much as the others, but I feel very safe with either on my person. A 180 grain pebble can give you a heck of a bump. Now when they release the new K45, we my talk again.
