  • I like shiny objects.

I realize that most probably think I'm an idiot for turning a Kahr into a BBQ gun, but I like em polished. I polished my my PM9 a few years ago and have no regrets. I use it as my EDC and the finish has held up great. For about a year now, I've been looking for a MK9, with the intention of polishing it too. I finally got impatient and purchased one on GB a couple of weeks ago. It was an older one, but in excellent condition. I like night sights on my Kahr's and ordered a set from the Kahr website. That was the only place I could find the older style sights (Pre-Nov 2004). They were advertised as Trijicon, but Meprolight Tru-Dot's are what showed up - Fine by me, as that's what I have on my other Kahr's. For anyone interested in how I polished the MK9 (and PM9), I started with 400 grit paper, then switched to 800 grit, 1500 grit, 2000 grit, followed by Mother's Mag Polish. No power tools, just elbow grease.

The finished product. Enjoy (or throw tomatoes ).

Very nice. I really like that shiny mk9.
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

That's amazing you did that without a buffing wheel. How long does it take you to do one? I think they both look nice. Did you have to touch up the PM9 from time to time to maintain the polished finish?

Nothing wrong with a good BBQ gun no matter what it is.

Looks great. And no power tools? I'm very impressed.

If I had to guess, I'd say about 4 or 5 hours with the 400 grit paper. After that, it went really quickly - probably 1 hour each for the 800/1500/2000/Mothers Mag Polish. In hindsight, I would probably skip the 2000 grit paper and go right to the Mothers Mag Polish, after the 1500 grit. Thanks for the compliments.

As for the PM9, I polished it 3 years ago and have not touched it up since. It spends most of it's time in a Don Hume IWB holster, or in my safe.

Great job, looks almost complete. Here's mine.

I know it needs a little more work, but eventually I'll get there.

Just messin around, kinda slow day around here. Your Kahr looks great, I couldn't do it, don't have the finger strength!

                        Welcome to the site!
