  • Inner tube for grip

I just got a CW .45 and it is a great gun, however, the grip is a bit sticky. I heard that some use inner tubes around the grip. I may consider this, but I wonder how is this done. Do you use a bicyle inner tube? Do you glue this? How does it work?

    Thanks

Yes, bicycle inner tube. I orginally had a Hogue slip-on but changed to an inner tube. You don't need to glue it. It's a little hard to get on, but it will stay put. There are a couple of nice tricks to get it on easier, but I just pulled it on a little at a time. I like the inner tube much better than the Hogue. It cushions the grip so there is no bite plus it is thin so ther is no extra bulk. Best part is you can use the inner tube for many guns and/or replacements.

+ 1 on the inner tube...works great on my PM9. Cut the bottom flat and the top at an angle from the bottom of the trigger guard to the top of the grip. Tweak it until you get it the way you want it...if you mess it up, just cut another piece and try it again!

+2 on the inner tube. Not too thick and covers the cheese grater grip perfect. One tube can do many grips and cheap.

I to am a inner tube grip user. Works great. Just enough grip and tones down the sharpness on my PM45.

The trick is a good clean cut. If you put a slice in it, it will tear pretty easy when you go to tug it on. If you get the right size tube it's not difficult to get on either. Good and snug, mine doesn't move at all.

Go to your local bicycle shop and ask them for some old tubes. Mine gave me three of different sizes and now have enough to make grips for about eleventy thousand pistols

if you haven't seen the talon grips (in rubber) check those out. not sure if they have one for the CW45, but i love them on my P9. they look good, more comfortable than the hand eating kahr grip, and aren't as 'rubbery' as the tube solution imo.

A 1.75-inch (diameter) tube fits .380 to .45 Kahrs. Watch out for the talcum powder in the tubes when cutting them... not on your gun! Turn the tube segment inside out and wash it and dry it. Make even cuts... no tears. The stuff stretches and isn't hard to put on, especially after stretching. Don't add anything for a lubricant... not needed. Start with your largest pistol and use any mistakes on the smaller ones. I did P380, PM9, PM45 and P40... nice texture... more like the K9's rubber grips. The covers look better if you turn them inside out... uniformly black and not so many "seams".
Cheap and functional... save your money for ammo, not "fancy" grip covers, unless you just dig those little finger-rest thingies.

OH, YEAH... MAKE SURE YOUR GUN IS UNLOADED!... easy to pull the trigger while trying to get the cover on the grip!!

                  AGrips

are the way to go IMHO. I started with the innertube route, then tried a Hogue, but finally went with AGrip and I can't imagine it gets any better. Velvety touch, very thin, good grip even with wet hands. Fits so well it looks like it's a factory product. I've had mine for about a year and can't tell it's worn at all. In fact, I plan to put them on all my pistols.

Wet the tube and grip with rubbing alcohol and it will go on much easier.

I use a tennis racquet overgrip on my Kahrs. It is a rubberized gauze which sticks to itself rather than the grip. Works great, is cheap and easy to replace. You can build your grip to a size that suits. Available at most tennis stores or on-line retailers that specialize in racquet sports.

You guys are soft. The only thing that I wrap around my grip is my mitts. Real men don't use grip condoms. Back me up on this one, Jocko.

I was told by Hogue customer service to use windex as a lubricant when putting on the Handall Jr.s on my Kahrs.

The problem with "lubing" the tube (, sorry I digress) is it makes it very hard to get a hold of to pull it on. I tried to roll it up like a ( never mind) and roll it on but that was a total failure. Easiest thing for me was to warm it up with a hair dryer and just stretch it on.
