  • CW40 made me bleed!

I finished up my break in on my cw40 today, towards the end of 100 rounds I had one fail to feed, I think I limp wristed it, I was rushing because I had another new gun to sight in.

After the fail to feed, I finished the mag, put a new one in and fired, I took a casing to the forehead , I shook it of and finished the mag, inserted a new mag and took another case to the forehead, I began to bleed my own blood, I now have a small swollen cut in the center of my head.

Other than that, the gun functioned fine, I got a handall jr. for it, it really eliminated the pain and some of the recoil, im now ready to call this gun a keeper, my wife is clowning my fore head though.

It might be a good idea to clean the extractor thoroughly and make sure that the extractor channel is lightly lubed. Could be why the cases were hitting your head.

How do I clean the extractor and lube it?

Clean with a tooth brush preferably your wife's since she gave you no sympathy for the head strike. Then very small drop of oil where the pivot point/bearing surface is.

I always wear a ball cap when I go shooting. Shades the eyes but also puts something between my forehead and flying brass. (Especially the shooter next to you) Might not stop everything but it'll divert a lot of things.

Or you could always try this:

this SH!T just happens every once in a while, in sone guns alot. I can tellyou that our Indiana Satate police sent back recently a bunch of glock 17 for issues on rounds hitting ones head ALOT. not one in a 100 or onein 50 either. It is not normal in a kahr but here ismy two cents on ur one round thing. #1 Live with it. #2 after 100 rounds of a 40 cal ouot of a cw40, my bet is tha tyou didn't know it but you got tired and your grips and total body position changed just enough that you got that round on our head.

U can clean the extractor channel by what the members stated, but IMO it ain't goona help any, as IMO u have no problem; Just sayin

HellI get one every once in awhile with any of my 3 kahrs that I own. I guess that is part of shooting a semi to..
. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

When I first reported the forehead strikes with my PM45, someone suggested some of those sticky-backed panty-liners... Getsome or Jlottmc, I think. Just slap one on your forehead. I prefer wearing my Kahr cap low enough that my shooting glasses and the cap have me protected.

The only time I get a case to the forehead is if I get a little lax in my grip. Get sloppy and I get a wake up call to the head.

In the tech section there is a good tutorial on how to break down the top end including removing the extractor and its chain.

Not a bad thing to do some time but the external cleaning with the wifes toothbrush or one of them new fangled brass double end brushes and a drop of oil should be enough.

I suspect is will get better with more rounds fired too.

                    Now that's funny!!!
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

Im thinking it was me and not the guns fault, I was towards the end of my 100 round box of wwb when it happend, the first time it happend, I was then on guard for it to happen again, so I think it was me, thanks guys for responding, gonna add a ball cap to my shooting bag just in case.

The ball cap also keeps brass from deflecting off the barrier wall between lanes and coming down on the inside of your glasses.

Normally brass hitting in the head is caused by incorrect ejector geometry.

File a bit on the left side and it will help deflect to the right.
Check your ejector to be sure it's not bent or the tip hasn't broken off.

Your brass should fly to the right and slightly behind. About 2' to 10'.
If it's not, it's not tuned right.

When I first shot my CM40, I had a few brass casing fly over my head instead of to the side. I am also thinking I changed something in my grip. Fortunately, they were thrown hard enough to sail right over my head. I'm too tall to duck.
