I didn't intend for the thread to morph... but ya know... I'm glad other folks feel like I feel.

I'm really sorry for the OP... the shooter with the problem. Sigh. And life moves on.

Thats ok, I can laugh about it now but I assure the pucker factor was raised when it happened. As for the drones they fly around here all the time guess I need to be more careful!

I've had my CW45 for almost a year and have not ever seen this.

The ONLY way that slide will come off the frame is if the slide lock is out, broken, or the barrel lug is compromised. It can NOT come off any other way.

If the slide lock is good and the barrel lug is good, then, most likely, the slide lock spring was the culprit and allowed the lock to move out. Something which you would have, and SHOULD have noticed.

Don't give up on this gun. It is a great weapon and I trust mine completely.

I think it was implied that the slide stop was not noticed to have moved out - allowing the slide to take a short trip like the man shot from the cannon.

Any feedback from Kahr? I'm curious to hear the explanation on this one.

Got the gun back today! Didn't even know it was coming. Total was 21 days back and forth. They replaced the slide lock spring, lubricated and that was it. No explanation. I guess I need to make sure lock is in place before I pull the trigger especially if I am at the range. If I need it for a CCW situation, guess I will just chance it!!! I still have faith in this gun. Weather is still hot here so will be carrying either the CW9 or a shield. Will go back to the 45 when the weather gets alittle cooler.

give it a few hundred rounds for confidence. hopefully all is well
. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

nmkahrshooter... I hope the best for you. I've had my share of failures in the past with certain models that had to be returned multiple times. I never regained my confidence with them and I no longer use them. Out of 10 new Kahrs, all I have left to use is my K9 Elite03, CW9, MK9 and a TP45. I never had a shooting failure with 3 of the 4 even though my MK9 slide cracked it still operated 100%. The CW9 came out of the box with an unfinished slide and the TP45 had its frame replaced and I never experienced any failures since the frame replacement. The K9 Elite03 was the only one that never had to be returned.

Let us know how things work out for you, Good Luck.

Yeah, hopefully it will be ok. The gun is a tool and sometimes tools break. I expect when I pull the trigger that it will perform flawlessly.
