still love my CW45, but have some concerns

I noticed that I have a piece of the very bottom of the feedramp that is in bad shape. I can't tell if a chunk got chipped off, or if it is just a result of something feeding poorly that made a burr for me to stone down. I tried to take some pics to show what I mean (attached).

Also, the guide rod is getting beat up where the spring sits on it. I took pics there too. Odd.

Thoughts/suggestions VERY welcomed!!!

I know it can be hard, but if you have any way of getting some better pics that would be helpful. I really can't see anything wrong with the feed ramp. If you're talking about how it isn't a straight line along the bottom, that is normal.

On the Guiderod, it is also hard to see from the pic. I'm assuming its a little rough on the part of the cap that you can see sticking out around the guide rod? Again, see if you can get a better picture of it.

it's really tough to get a good pic of either! The bottom of the feedramp on the shorter side is burred. It's been pushed up and if you drag your finger down the ramp you can feel the sharp raised area at the end. If it's normal with use, then I'll stone it down/smooth, but it doesn't seem right. I'm not sure what could be hitting it like that... unless maybe the top of the 1911 magazines that I use (flush mags per the sticky).

The guide rod is just getting the knob at the end beaten to hell by the spring. There's little bits of metal flaking off it, and excessive wear. Again, odd.

I will try to take some macro pics later with my camera... hope they come out better.

I suspect the mag is hitting the feed ramp and that's exactly what I would do, just stone it a bit. It's low enough it shouldn't cause any issues but smoother is better.

The guide rod itself generally get beat up but I've not heard much about the end getting beat up. Usually it's more finish being worn off than wear or abuse.
Not sure on that guide rod deal but I'm pondering that.

there s nuttin wrong with the guide rod ande what bawana said is right, U can stone it away or send it back to kahr, . That area realy has naddato do with roper or impropper feeding. Iwould bet kahr wold even mod that feedram and just send it back...Just sayin

Cool! I thought it was too low to matter. The rest of the feedramp is slick as slick can be... I polished it ;-) and feeding is never an issue - nor is anything else; love my Kahr.

I guess the guide rod beating is since she's a little barrel I'll watch it and I guess replace the rod as needed.

I think bednar makes a stainless steel guide rod and also some one onthis forum I think makes a guide rod for the signle stage springs. Personally I think ur guide rod is perfect. The finish is gone but that isormal. as there is friction on theguide rod fro the recoil but wedon't see defective guide rods. We see may like ur post but again I think it is normal.

U need to do sumpin with that lower feed ramp, so that it doesn't damage magazines etc. I would say it slipped through the cracks at kahr and it shold have been moded before it left the buildign. It can be moded easily. I rememberback some years ago when kel teks wasdoing the exact same thing and the new word back then for their fix was called a RAMPECTOMY,which meant filing/stoning the lower section of the feed ramp to clean the magazines. Until \kel tek fixed the ram themselvesit was SOP on the kel tek forum.

it's the pic of the guide rod. The rod itself is perfect. It's only where the head is. I have pulled out pieces of metal that came off. Again, pic sucks!

Stainless steel guide rod? Other then possibly being heavier, I can't see a need/benefit for it over stock. What's the consensus?

I'll get on that ramp and fix her up niiiiice. I'm thinking it's those awesome non-Kahr magazines I run that did it, so I wouldn't send it to Kahr. If it's their fault, then it's on their doorstep - but if it's mine, then it's on me to fix for not using it the way they sent it! I'll ***** if it's defective, but I put on my big-boy pants if it's on me, lol.

I stoned it a little and I think we're in biz as far as that goes. My slide stop screw is loose again, so I tightened it and the head continued to strip. Kahr wants the whole gun in order to send me a warranty replacement screw. Yeah, like that might happen.
