P380 - Buffalo Bore

Did a lot of research and found Buffalo Bore to be the highest velocity 380 ammo readily available. Ran some standard pressure and some +p (both 90gr) through my P380. Also tried a few in my Kel-Tec 380. No issues with either. Although the +p packed a pretty good wallop, was not unmanageable. No feeding or eject issues.

Won't be shooting too many of these in the future, but will have them loaded in my carry mags. Feel better with the standard pressure in the KT. Both B.B. loads seem to have much more punch than the Gold Dots I've got.

Isn't that a cast bullet? Which is a no-no in the poly barrel?

Sent mine off for night sights so did not snag the manual out of the box.

Thanks for the info. Yeah, I figured that a long time ago and bought some of those a couple of times -- the 90-grain JHPs. I loaded up a couple of spare mags I bought for the .380 I had briefly and tested insertion but not chambering to see if things looked good. The stripper was behind the bullet and the stripper was beveled as well. I don't know if anyone ever said whether or not the P380 has the "notch" in the recoil spring retainer part of the frame. Pix of the P380 with no notch, then the PM45 with the notch, the .380 next to the 9mm and .45 bullets. The dead front site in subdued light and the marred rear sight -- tool marks.
I sent these and more to Ian at Kahr... not the bullet picture.

I don't see this notch of which you speak, but I will participate in your thread hijack by saying that I compared my p380 slide to your picture and they are identical.

BB in your P380. Polygonal rifled barrels are said to not be bullet friendly with cast/lead bullets. So u definitely need to clean the barrel more often, but yes you can shoot lead bullets out of a polygonal rifled barre. BUT CLEAN MORE OFTEN or you could be asking for trouble. I doubt if you will be shooting the BB round to much in the P380. It is a real kicker and most report "not fun"

The BB is a one hot round, most don't like um either, you get a hot round but also a very uncontrollable situation in such a small frame/grip gun. Personally it is not the round of my choice that is for sure. If u want to shoot "maybe" through the person and into the next room, that round might do it. There are better rounds out there in the 380 for sure, but none hotter. if that is your total criteria...

My next gun may be a Highpoint. i was thinking the best .45 carbine I could get was the CX4 Storm by Beretta, but it's only 8+1 AND $700 or so!

My FFL dealer was telling me that Highpoint was going to stop the .40 cal and make the .45 carbine. With the redesign and new stock, that's an attractive carbine now, the 9mm, but I want a .45 as soon as I see some tests. The 9mm carbine is selling for about $300 with a scope or "Dot" sight. The .45 has to be a lot cheaper than the alternatives. This might be out in time for my Christmas present. The p380 was LAST year's birthday gift, the PM9 this past Christmas and the Pm45 my BD gift of this June. I have to keep up with my gifts... I was behind one and I'm ahead one....

I thought that might be the case but I sent Ian pix of that too, just in case. Anyhow, they will get it in the morning and do what they have to. I may shoot it the next time I have it in my hand!
It's a nice little gun, but I would sure like to have it in DLC. Have you heard of anyone else getting dead Night Sights on a factory new gun? I just can't believe all the stuff that gets out the door for Kahr. It looked like a real klutz installed my NS and the front one didn't look damaged, but it sure had no glow.
