  • P40 purchase? New or Used?

Looking for a P40. Cant find new except on Gunbroker,(thats ok). But, my local GS has a good cond,(could be cleaned up to very good cond) that I could get for $325. No box or papers. History unknown. Should I roll the dice and hope it's not a lemon? Or Spring for a new one (coupla hundred more) and get the warranty? What whould you do and why?

the price is good, how about asking if u can test fire it. also how about getting the serialjumber offof it and we can help u with the age of it etc. If it looks good, it more than likely is good. Kahrs don't wear out.I think the price is good. they should work with you on it, and it sure wouuld benic eto be ab le to test fire the gun to see, or at least get some kind of return priveledge if it is not OK for reliability. Ihave no doubt ifu drop 300 in the counter, they will sellit to you also.

The P40 is a hand rocket though, as 40 cal in lightweight kahrs will certainlyle tu know what uhave to..
. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

+1 what jocko says. He is wise. See if you can shoot it first. At least a couple of mags full. IMHO, save the money and get the used one. Will last forever.

I'm new to guns & Kahrs, but I went used for my first one ... and probably always will. Besides the higher price of new ones, you've got the extra cost of the 200+ rounds to break it in.

I would already have the used, $325 P40 in my possession. Unless it's a complete turd, you will always get your money back [and then some] for that price on a P40.

I just got a P40 Covert after years of searching. The 325 price is very good. My previous PM40 was too much recoil, I am hoping this Covert with 165/155 grain will hurt a little less
