I thought I remember reading where there were certain serial numbers on P380s to avoid. What serial number should I look for or avoid if I find a new P380?

I bought a brand-new one last month that's RC6xxx, yet I see folks bought ones as high as RC8xxx well over a year ago. With all of the panic gun buying of the past few months I find it hard to believe some distributors were still stitting on year-old inventory.

P380 Serial Number ?
I bought a p380 last month from a large and frequently trafficked gun store. I assumed that it had to be recent vintage - instead, I find it is an RB6xxx gun. Not happy, but so far has not had issues in firing.
That will be my last transaction with that store.

I just bought a brand new RD serial number and it has had major issues that required return to the kahr factory. See this thread for details:

Mine was literally brand-new in that the dealer had just gotten it in that morning, so it's the fault of distributors who fail to rotate their stock and sell the older inventory first, something a lot of them don't bother to do. I still remember back around 2001 when Colt started selling their Series 80 1991 models with the new polished finish the old all-matte guns were still showing up for a couple of years afterwards. If you special-ordered one it was luck of the draw as to which one you received.

So have you had any issues with yours?Originally posted by dsk View PostMine was literally brand-new in that the dealer had just gotten it in that morning, so it's the fault of distributors who fail to rotate their stock and sell the older inventory first, something a lot of them don't bother to do.

I've only put the first 200 rounds through it so far. I finally found some more .380 ammo recently but I haven't had a chance to go back to the range yet. During my 200-round break-in it ran great at first, then began to choke a few times as it got dirty (FTRTB issues), then worked fine for the remaining 50. When I took it apart to clean it afterwards the insides literally looked as if I'd fired 500 rounds or more, so these pistols apparently get dirty really fast.

Mine is an RAxxxx with more than 3500 rnds. through it and is still tight. Took 640 rnds. to loosen up a bit. It runs perfect with USA made ammo and my hand loads. Never tried aluminum or steel case and won't.KP3833N, PM9093N, PM4543N, TP4543, CZ 75B, CZ 97B, P22, Just Right Carbine 45 ACP marine takedown, Glock 41
