I just got this gun this past Friday, and shot it for the first time today. I was attempting to complete the 200 round break in, but only successfully shot 2 consecutive magazines in a row the whole session that did not have a FTRTB. Got home and took the pistol apart to clean it up and by the looks of things something's amiss, the breech face on my PM9 doesn't look anything like this. Guess I'll be sending it back to Kahr. Any ideas or input is appreciated.

I have a recent P380 and it looks the same, got the same cutout where your finger is pointing, although I don't have those machine marks but they should not cause any issues. Before I shot mine I took a dummy round and checked functioning and found it would not feed and reliably chamber a round. I took your photo and indicated with the pencil where I had to relieve the edges and round it over. I found that these two areas were catching on the case. Rounds should smoothly slip under the extractor and up into position. Also be sure that the bullet is not hitting the slide stop on its way up, if it does then the bullet nose gets tipped down changing the angle it hits the feed ramp and causing a jam. I found that if you make these 3 changes correctly you can hand rack the slide at a normal speed and chamber a round reliably. If you can't then the gun is not going to reliably feed a full magazine full during normal firing. You didn't say but hope you did some pre-prep of the gun (as listed out in many other threads) before taking it to the range. Getting the gun smooth is critical to proper functioning and I would rather do it before going shooting rather than doing it by shooting. Kahr guns should leave the factory right but sadly not all are.

In that picture and to the right of the digit is the stripper. That could be rounded and polished a bit more, so it will go behind the top cartridge/magazine more easily. I also rounded that "shelf" on the face opposite the extractor just a bit since it seems the cartridge bases are smacking on that the from the marks.

Glad you switched back to my favorite avatar Wyn. She's just a cutie. I neglected to check for that beveled edge on that MK9 I was playing with. The notch was definitely there and well done, but I didn't look for the bevel. It runs like eggs thru a hen so I'm not concerned, I did polish the barrel and feed ramp for the officer just to make sure it continues to run well totally violating my policy to not fix things that aren't broken but it does look waaaay better. And we all know that looking cool is job 1.

I was looking through my pictures and that's still my favorite, too. Hot chicks with guns! Or skimpily-clad, hot chicks with guns... even better.
I'm gonna have to try harder to get my wife to the range with me. I have three guns she hasn't fired, now. I guess the 9-shot .22 Stinger-loaded H&R revolver at the head of the bed for her, is the best choice, since I don't have a center-fire revolver. If you don't practice with an auto and can't load and work the slide to clear malfunctions, it's best to stick with the tried and true revolver. I would guess that too many women are depending on autos they can't really use properly... clear malfunctions or reload. It's even harder when you throw in a safety and a few more dang levers and stout recoil springs.
I'm thinking that I ought to get some kind of .38/.357 with decent .38 SD ammo and get her to practice with that. The only pistols I ever shot in the Air Force were the .38s -- S&W model 15's I believe, with the crappy Magna grips that I hated. I couldn't get a consistent grip on those things. Target grips were okay, or Pachmayr rubber grips, like I had on model 19's and 66's.
Darn it! I need to get on my taxes... I don't want to wait until the last minute!

There's a guy here with a SP101 for sale, looks really nice, best you check it out. Would be a good fit for your wife. Heavy recoil soaking weight. Bomb proof, would last forever. Plus she gets a new gun herself that clears up a few of your past transgressions and opens the door to the next family member. All part of the master plan.

I was wondering if anybody had any updates on these issues.
My gun has developed the same problem.
the only difference is mine started after the first 200 rounds.
I didn't have any ftrtb problems before the 250 mark actually.

thing to do is change recoil springs and retest. I would think yoiu should notnee dthem but somethng has changed. Eliminate the possable that you are able to control. Very strange things seem to be happening with the P380 after a couyple hundred rounds..

Ditto with my P380-looks exactly the same. Initially had a couple of times that the slide locked back in the middle of the magazine which is kinda odd as I'm a lefty. Seems to be working OK now after about 200 rounds. Did a full "fluff and buff" before taking it to the range.
