  • Cw40 vs Cw45

Im lovin My cw9 and now looking for another What would be your pick and why? Recoil? Ammo cost and availability ? Reliability difference ? . Thanks

ur gonna know u got a cw40 when the bang thing happens. Its a powerhouse. both will be reliable IMO.
. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

      Cw40 vs Cw45

I went for the .45 due to the fact that my pinky will wrap around the grip which is not the case with the .40. And in spite of its light weight the recoil is very manageable with the .45. It's an awesome weapon!

Have not tried the 45 but I love my CW40. I guess I'm just not recoil sensitive since it feels like no real difference between it and the PM9 I used to have and I am 61. If you are arthritic then it might be a problem.

          My next two are the cw380 and a cm9. I'm really wanting a cm9 to match my cw9. Also wanting a k9.

I'm hooked so to hell with logic!

            cw45, cw45, cw45.

            It's really a smooth shooter.
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

Either one is a good choice. To me, it comes down to what caliber do you want to shoot?

While both have more oomph than the 9mm, I don't find the cw40 or cw45 recoil to be unmanageable at all in the cw platform. In fact I am surprised how well their design works in this size pistol.

As far as physical difference go, I will say the cw45 is a bit taller than the cw9/40 and slightly wider so depending on your body size the cw45 may be a little harder to conceal. Since you have a cw9 a cw40 will likely fit in your current cw9 holsters.

As far as reliability goes, it's a toss up with any new mass produced gun. Sometimes a problem child escapes. Both have been out for quite sometime now, so they will likely get it running for you if you happen to get one with any issues.

I would recommend finding a place where you can hold and if possible rent both at the same time and try them side by side.

I like our two CW40s a lot. Recoil is snappy but not an issue. Both my wife and I are in our 60s and small build, but have no problems with recoil. Since energy is similar, I went with the 40s&w for the extra round and flatter trajectory.

40 S&W is not my favorite round but 45 ACP is. I have two 40's, an MK40 and HK USP 40. I really like the MK [but wish it was a 45] and the HK is my HDW because it has a 14 round mag and excellent night sights. I have eleven 45's.

I sold my CW40 a short time after buying another CW45 because it was redundant.

I went with the CW45 1) because the grip felt better in my hand than the CW40 2) because it is a 45 ACP and 3) because I have the option of both 45ACP & 45ACP +p rounds

Go CW45 because bigger is better and size does matter.

Around here 40sw is cheaper and more available. The tradeoff IMHO is the sharper recoil. Kahr made my choice for me because they still don't make a K45. No complaints. I really like my K40.

                            6+1 (standard mag).

Kahr offers an extended 7 round mag.
