  • New P380 (piece of junk)

New to this forum. I purchased a P380 about 3 weeks ago. Two of my friends have these and they shoot very well with no issues. Not mine. I have fired over 500 rounds of ammo (mixed brands, target as well as defensive)(mixed brands because I cannot find more than 1 or 2 boxes of any one brand at a time in this area) and in that time period I have only 6 times been able to get thru a complete magazine without a failure to feed properly.
I have returned the gun to the dealer twice for this issue. Today I returned it the 3rd time and they are sending it back to Kahr. Kahr indicates about a 4 week turnaround time. This stinks!!
I own a Kel-Tek, a Ruger LCP and a Sig P238, and have had no issues with any of these guns.
I will probably not keep this gun when it comes back from Kahr since I do not trust it at all. Ammo is to difficult to find and expensive as all h___, not going to waste any more on this gun.
Sorry for venting on this forum, but I am VERY DISSAPPOINTED!

Well...you shouldn't have any problem selling or trading it once you get it back. Popular little gun. Since you already have an LCP you will probably be just fine.

I'd be more than happy to give you half of what you paid for your P380. My P380 runs flawlessly and I'm sure that I could get yours to run flawlessly, too.

if its going back to kahr see how it runs. If this is the first time you'e only given Kahr one chance. If it's as bad as you say a couple of magazines will prove it either fixed or still broke. Just my thoughts.
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

Kahr will make it right. The newer p380s seem to have very few problems. There may just be something that needs a small tweak. I just got a new P380 about 4 weeks ago. It has over 600 rounds through it without a single hiccup. Give them a chance to fix it and it will be a great, accurate little gun.

Certainly understand your disappointment but it's a shame you've thrown in the towel before Kahr had the chance to make it right. Someone will get a good gun. Good luck and welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the forum Electraclyde. I always enjoy when a newbie's first post or so is to ********* a product. That's a hell of an intro.
Rather I would suggest you list your POS gun on the forum's classified section and move on with your life.

I know how you feel. Had a similar experience with a TCP, and when it came back from Taurus I sold it immediately because I knew I'd never trust it even if it was fixed.

If you decide to do the same, let me know and I might buy it. I've been looking for one and logically I know Kahr will make it right eventually. I'll just keep sending it in as long as it takes.
                Rest in peace Muggsy

I had the very same problem with the Ruger LCP. First time out it jammed on the first shot. Took it apart, cleaned it, worked the feedramp and tried again. Bang! - Stovepipe. Tried again and FTF. Now I had 3 magazines and that wasn't the problem.

On every forum you can find a problem with virtuously every make and model. I would try it out when you get it back and if it works then great. If not, give it the big toss. If you have friends with ones that work, there is still hope.

How about a explanation of the issues?

Electraclyde has decided that the Kahr P380 is a POS that can't be trusted despite the thousands that have been produced that function perfectly. I see no reason to try to convince him otherwise. You guys are ruining the used gun market. Yes, we could tell him that Kahr is a reputable manufacturer and that their guns are among the finest concealed carry pistols in the world and that his gun comes with a five year warranty, but why confuse him with facts. The man knows what the man knows. And for heavens sake, don't tell him to read the stickies in the new members forum or he might just find out how to cure his guns ills by himself.

Electraclyde should have given Kahr a chance to rework the pistol. I do not know a manufacturer of anything to get it all right 100 percent of the time. I do not know for sure and I can't speak for them but I have heard from others on this forum that Kahr will do whatever is necessary to make their pistols function properly including replacement if it's necessary. These little pistols, when functioning properly are a joy to shoot with total reliability. Give Kahr a chance to make it right, don't settle for less.

And as the sun sets in the west (it is west ain't it?) don't see it much round these parts of late, we bid fond fair well to Tonto and that masked man riding the right pretty pony, High Horror Silver.

                            Thanks for playing.
