    CW45 Trigger Overtravel

    New to the forum, LOTS of great info in here. I just got my first Kahr (CW45) and I LOVE IT! Great fit, great function, GREAT value! However...my trigger has a great deal more overtravel than the ones I've felt before. After researching here it seems the issue must be with the Trigger bar or cocking cam. But before I send back to Kahr...I want to know if anyone has had this issue before and and knows a fix for it.

    To be clear, when I say "overtravel" I mean that the trigger is all the way at the back of the trigger guard before the striker drops.

    Welcome to the forum and glad you like your CW45 so far.

    I have a CW45 and the only initial problem I had was trigger reset in the beginning which I fixed. My trigger doesn't drop the striker until it's all the way to the back but that has never been a problem for me, actually I like it like that. My CM9 is the same way.

    I would recommend take it out and shoot it real well, let it get good and hot, and see if you have any problems. If you don't have any problems I'd just shoot it like you stole it.

    Enjoy that new pistol.
    The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

      yup what yqutszhi says. shoot it, If ur not getting any light strikes then the gun is OK. I think u willbe wqasting ur money sending it back and I seriously doubt if kahr will pick up the tab when the gun is functioning OK.

      Giuvethe gun a couple hundred rounds , alot of thingschange in that time, the gun smooths out, the shooter soon forgets some of theearlier concerns ..
      . My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

        Over travel refers to how far the trigger moves after the shot breaks.

        Kahrs have long trigger pulls, usually two stages. This is the safety. It is meant to be hard to fire accidentally.

        There is a distance of take up which is very light, then the trigger engages and finishes cocking the striker. This is the long, heavier part of the pull until the trigger breaks the shot. Ideally, there should be almost no over travel after the shot breaks.

        It sounds like your trigger is working correctly. It is just different than others. You will get used to it.

            Welcome to the forum!

            Do some dry firing while balancing an empty case or a snap cap on top of your sight. With practice it will really smooth out your "Kahr" trigger pull.

              So long as you have no problems with the striker igniting the primer you are fine. It is not a short reset glock type trigger. A long double action type trigger is what it is.
