  • CW45, first shots

After buying this several weeks ago, I finally was able to take possession and give her a go. I read through the Kahr prep section several times. Stripped and cleaned it. Applied oil and grease to rails, pivots etc. Stripped both mags and wiped them down and verified correct assembly. Nothing I haven't done with every other firearm I have purchased.

I did not see any manufacture or interference issues with anything, did not sand the feed lips or mess with feed ramp. I figured IF I had any feed issues I would address them at that time.

Only had time to run 25 rounds of 185 gr hardball from Georgia Arms through it.

First shot blew up my apple target at about 25 ft. I was amazed at how smoothly this little pistol shot. Recoil was much less than the .40 cal pistols I owned. And the trigger is like pulling a knife through butter. Had no issues with trigger reset even wearing gloves.

I realize that I have 175 more break in rounds before calling all good. But so far extremely happy with my purchase. First Kahr and now wondering why I waited so long. Oh right, always thought they were too much money. So the CW budget line has gotten Kahr another shooter.

Only complaint is the grip. Who at Kahr has hands so calloused that this feels good? Just installed a Talon rubber grip this morning. Feels good. Hope it holds up.

You can always get an old used inner tube, 1.75 or 2" free at bike shops and cut to cover 95% of the grip. Not Purdy be it works well. Good for break in alteast. These kahrs are lite enough it is hard to shoot the same kind of round count thru them you might with a handgun weighing 8 or 10 oz more thats for sure. You picked a good ammo to start with. Glad your enjoying it.

My second handgun purchased back in the mid 90's was an Astra A75 in .45ACP. Since then it has been mostly 9mm, .40 and 10mm for auto's. I forgot how much the .45 just pushes back as opposed to flipping. In my opinion, the .40 S&W has the most brutal recoil of normal factory loads in compact auto's. I have disliked shooting everyone I have owned. Not that it isn't a good or effective round, because it is.

I guess one positive from the illegal, insane and asinine NY SAFE act 7 round limit, is it put a compact single stack .45 back in my hand.

Glad your CW45 is shooting well. As to the 40S&W, if you ever get a chance to shoot a CW40 try it. Although there is a snap, I would not call it brutal at all. I easily fire 150 rounds at a range session without soreness. +1 on the inner tube trick.

Welcome to the CW45 club. They are very nice pistols.

So this "Apple Target", a real apple or an old iPhone? The curiosity is killing me.

The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

hahaha. Real apples stolen from my mom's compost pile. But could see using my iphone as a target at times. I destroyed an old microwave oven with my 10mm 1076 that died days after the warranty was up. Very satisfying
