  • CW9 or G19

After owning a CW9 and later a Glock 19 I am suprised that I prefer the CW9 for CCW. Has anyone else had a similar experiance?

Not really. I've been carrying my P9 with the Kahr ported barrel most of the time and will resume carrying my Mag-na-ported P40 after I sort out the night sights. I have a G23C that I have CC'd once... to a gun show, looking for accessories. It was too big for my comfort... even with an oversized untucked polo. I also have a G19 Gen 4 that about the same size as the G23C.

I have the PM9... my first polymer pistol, a P380... my favorite around home, and a PM45 that I prefer to carry at night. I have no problem comfortably carrying the polymer Kahrs. I do carry a "high capacity" Kahr magazine as a reload as the Kahrs don't hold but half as much as the Glocks.

I don't find that surprising at all. Both are fine pistols, but the difference in width makes the CW9 much more comfortable for everyday carry.

        CW9 or G19

I carry a Glock, mostly a 26 but I do carry a 19 on occasion. Sure the Kahr is slimmer and thus easier to conceal and more comfortable. But honestly I have no problems hiding a G26, and a gun should be comforting, not comfortable. Plus I shoot the Glock 10 times better. That's me. YMMV.

I prefer the act of carrying my kahr simply because it is more comfort, but I trust my Glock way more and it's a 26, not bad to carry either

            CW9 or G19

Thank you for the replays and comments. I must admit that I often switch to the G19 in the evening. It is a very comforting pistol to carry. When I have the Kahr CW9 holstered I carry one or two spare Magazines. I normally don't when I carry the G19.

Yes, my PM9 replaced most of my G26 carry [and .380 for that matter]. Sold the G26 and put the money towards an XDM 3.8 .45 ACP figuring that I'd carry the 45 those times when I might have carried the G26 which except for capacity wasn't much of a jump up from my PM9. So now my 3 carries are in .380, 9mm and 45 ACP with the PM9 far and away getting the most carry time.

Not a problem for me. I don't like Glocks, don't shoot them well, and find them uncomfortable. For those reasons, I don't own a Glock, have never owned one, and have no intention of obtaining one.

I carry only kahrs but love all kind of pistols and revolvers. Glocks are a little large for me even with the new gen 4 grips but shoot them as well as most others and prefer greatly the M&P line as a double stack pistol but I still carry kahrs for CC . Now if the end of the world was coming soon I would go to the general store and pick up a glock 19.

I went from carrying a double stack mag .40, to a Kahr CW40, and I really appreciate how light and comfortable the CW40 is to wear. Since then I've acquired a Boberg 9mm, and it's become my grab and go gun. It's small size, about like a PM9, makes it very handy, and the Remora holster can be worn in a variety of positions. Lately I've been wearing it at about 10:00-11:00, just to the left of my zipper. I'll have to give you an update on the Boberg after owning it for 1 year.

Here in Indiana we can carry concealed or open, it is up to the license holder. I'm a fairly big guy. 6 foot 2 and 200+ pounds. I used to carry my Glock 17 concealed. But now I'm carrying the CW45(followed break in procedures with no issues after 500 rounds).I know the G19 and G17 are completely different in size but it is all about balancing comfort with effectiveness of the cartridge and for me the CW45 won hands down for those 2 reasons.

Two different categories of gun. The Kahr is a concealment gun that is easily carried. The Glock is a holster carry gun that can be concealed, big difference.
