  • Back pocket carry question

I'm considering carrying my CW380 in a wallet holster in my right back pocket but I have questions. Which is more comfortable--carrying with the butt of the gun facing to the right or left? It seems the draw would be easier with the butt facing right. I'm considering an Uncle George holster http://www.unclegeorgeswalletholster...s/default.aspx but I need to tell him whether I want a right or left hand holster. The DeSantis Trickster http://jdholsters.com/product/desant...-ambidextrous/ is also an option at a better price. Any experience with either of these?

never had those brands of back pocket rigs but I can remmebertrying to carry my kel tek 380 inmy back pocket, as I always wear jeans and the fokker stuck out at the \top where one cold see it was a gun even. Never worked good for me..
. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

I've had a little Beretta Jetfire in .25 ACP in a custom made wallet holster for about 20yrs. It's my better than nothing if you can't run fast enough rig. Works really well in my back pocket, gun slips right out with thumb.

Don't carry in a rear pocket, but the Uncle George is pretty nicely made.
Have never seen that particular DeSantis.

If I'm going somewhere that I'm gonna be walking around the entire time, I sometimes drop my remora and P9 into my back pocket. Long shirt required. But the Remora sticks really well. It's gonna be a bit thicker than the two options you are looking at, but if you go w/ the non-RFT version, those are much thinner than what I carry. Also, StickyHolster would be an option also. Both will keep the holster in place when you draw, unlike the two you are looking at right now. Those will print a bit less if you are going tucked shirt.

I much prefer the slide as far toward the outside as possible. Plus I think the draw works better that way as well. For me, that means right hand draw with the butt facing the butt crack so to speak.

You do realize that comfort is a subjective issue, don't you? Only you can define what is comfortable to you. While some people do carry a small handgun in their back pocket I do not recommend it or small of the back carry.

Please remember that carrying a handgun is not meant to be comfortable, it is meant to be comforting.

I don't believe Uncle George makes a left hand P380 holster. It's covered in his FAQ's. I have the right hand. It's my EDC. I recommend it.

I have the uncle george holster for the LCP. I usually IWB carry, so I don't use this method of carry every day. For me it is more of a special occasion item when I might use this or a smart carry type holster. It is a right hand model that I wear in my right side rear pocket with the slide facing the the outside. It fits fine in my wrangler jeans and in my suit pants without protruding out the top of the pocket with either pants.

I do not have the CW380 but I carry my LCP in a Uncle Georges holster everyday a my "BUG". I am right handed and carry it in the right back pocket. with a little practice it become easy to draw. I have been carrying this way for several years now and have no had even on person question me as it really does looks like a wallet in your pocket.

I wear Wrangler and Levis. Levis's rear pocket is larger and therefor will completely cover my Cm9 in a De Santis sticky holster. If you look down in my pocket you can see the back end of the gun. It's approx. 1/8" below the top edge of the pocket. When I carry in Wrangler's it fits in the pocket but tighter and not as deep and therefor not as quick a draw at a possible crucial time. With a shirt untucked no would know you're CC'n.
                      cm9 and lovin it.

I totally agree...but to a point, in that carrying a handgun CAN be comfortable and comforting. Nothing says it is not meant to be comfortable to carry a handgun. It most certainly can be. However, everyone needs to seek a carry method that is most comfortable for them. As for ammodave's question, I suggest you simply try to carry it back pocket in any way that works for you. It certainly is not for me to sit on my handgun in my back pocket nor small of back for the same reasons VNVet is probably thinking. But to each his own. No right or wrong here. Just do what feels right to you.

Be leery of hitting the mag release with it in your back pocket. Even bending over with tight jeans can pop it loose. I will often carry a .25 Jetfire or a P3AT in my back pocket when going for walks when I know I wont be sitting anywhere. The P3AT in a soft Uncle Mikes and the Beretta in a home made wallet holster, made from, a wallet

Both are carried in my right back pocket with the butt toward my spine. So I can draw it like I was removing my wallet

I remember my CC instructor said he wouldn't allow his students to draw cross holster or as you suggest back pocket with gun butt toward pointed out (slide toward spine). He said for a draw from either position means you have to twist you hand or when drawn most likely be aiming the muzzle toward a fellow student or teacher as compared to a typical draw with muzzle not being pointed toward anything but your foot or the target in front of you.

I switched to carrying my wallet in the back pocket and keeping the PF9 in the front. Just a suggestion or in honor of Jocko
