  • cw40 ccw holster opinions

My cw40 is my ccw and I love it. Now this is my first ccw(not my first handgun or firearm). I have IWB blackhawk cloth holster that I don't really like too much. The feeling is great but the gun just wants to fall out of it if I'm sitting and that I do not like. Do you guys use IWB or OWB holsters for cc and which ones?

For IWB king tuk at 4 o'clock works well and is comfortable. However, I usually use a cheap pocket holster (Walmart) that covers the trigger guard and pocket carry strong side. Need pants that have large pockets for it to work well with a CW40, but you don't have to wear a coat or shirt not tucked in to cover it.

For a range holster for my CW40 I use a Uncle Mikes kydex for a 1911.

For concealed carry I use Blackhawk #4 pocket holster. I always make sure when I buy pants that the front pockets are big enough.

      I also pocket carry a Ruger SR9c in a #4.

Works fine for me, it may or may not work for you!

I tend to like leather IWB dual snap holsters. I found a Dean for the K40 and will probably get a Winthrop for the MK9. Although I sometimes appendix carry the MK9 in a K L Null.

I have three that I cycle though. Most comfortable and most functional(draw speed) is my owb KT-Mech kydex. Although it isn't a deep conceal.

My second choice a iwb Crossbreed supertuck. Super comfortable and nearly makes my cw9 invisible. Although a little slower draw speed and isn't as comfortable as owb.

My third choice is a Remora, super comfortable but also has it's downsides. I wear this holster when make short errands. I wear it sob so sitting down is a no no..

          Hope this helps.

I've gone with PJ Holster for my holster needs. Paul's Kydex holsters are relatively inexpensive, light weight, comfortable and secure. When I found JP Holster I quit looking. Paul does it right.

I use both , My iwb is a comp-tac minotaur neutral and my owb is a nelson holsters to wear in the same position as the comp-tac with a bit of rearward can't he made custom for me.
Old photo of a tp40 and my comp-tac and its clean up now, I cut the lower leather off it as the pistol don't hang that low and not needed.

My wifes and my Nelson holsters made for a cw9 but carry'n the longer tp40

Nelson Holsters can make some fine iwb leather holsters too.

Aegis Armory makes an excellent IWB for the CW. http://aegisarmory.us

I use an owb kydex from Gunfighters Inc. for my CW40. Fits tight to the body and super comfortable. I was using a cheap iwb from Gote holsters that was for a 1911. Although it was comfortable enough, it tended to push the .40 up a little. It never felt like it was going to fall out, but I just didn't like it. The Gunfighters Inc kydex though, I can do cartwheels and the .40 'aint budging.

I'm breaking in a Mitch Rosen OWB as I type. Ordered it from Kahr on Sunday. Received it today. Looks to be of excellent quality. Will start carrying my CW40 tomorrow.
