CW45 Barrel Hood Issues

After owning Sigs, Glocks, and S & W, I finally purchased a CW45. I have enjoyed shooting the new pistol, however, I discovered a problem the first time I disassembled the gun. When looking down the barrel, I noticed an issue with the barrel hood and it looked like a small "divot" the hood. I thought this may be from impurities during the forged process. I sent the gun back to Kahr and I was informed the barrel hood was "bent" and repairs were made. Kahr also stated the barrel hood is designed as such for removal of "live" rounds. I honestly cannot see where any repairs were made. Has anyone else had any problems or defects with their barrel hoods? Overall I am impressed with the little gun.

The red arrow in this photo points to the "divot in the barrel hood that provides clearance to eject live rounds. The green arrow points to a spot on the hood where you might see wear from the hood's interface with the slide (this will progress only so far and stop: you can file/sand it smooth or leave it as is):

On all three of my Kahrs, the right side (thin spot) of the hood has a little wear-in pattern in the metal. In a perfect world, those would be individually fit. In a production environment, Kahr gets 'em real close knowing they'll wear in within a few magazines worth of shooting.

Early on both of my CW40s had what appeared to be burrs at that spot marked with the green arrow in gb's post. Had a few problems with the ejected case not cleanly clearing the hood. Sanded the burrs down and polished. No issues since.

That is exactly what I was seeing. Based on what you posted I now understand the barrel is designed that way. I have never seen a divot like this on other manufacture's barrels. Thanks for the very informative picture. I still don't know Kahr meant when said the hood was bent.

Just to put folks' minds at ease regarding this issue, things like this were fairly common with the S&W 3rd Generation pistols. For example, there were some issues on the early versions of the 40 S&W models (4006) with small bits of metal being shaved off of the interior of the slides. It was a machining issue (corrected in later versions of the model), but S&W told their armorers to not worry about it. Just let the metal shave off through normal wear and the problem is self limiting. And for the record, S&W 3rd Gen pistols were about as reliable a line of pistols as you'll find.
