  • Cw40 range trip

It was the best of times and the worst of times. Lol. It wasn't the best trip but it had its good points. First off the gun went bang, and didn't have any problems feeding or ejecting. The only problem I found was my lube (Gunzilla CLP) doesn't fair to well in freezing temps. I'm in mid Michigan and the temp yesterday was -6 and wind chill was -20. Needless to say the CLP was freezing and gumming up giving me hang fires. I would pull the trigger and it took a extra few for the striker to release. I only got 18 rounds down range and called it quits. I'm kinda glad this happened so now I know I need a different lube for freezing temps. I would hate to need my gun in a life or death situation only to find it was malfunctioning because I'm outside in the cold.

After my Remington semi auto had a fur ball in single digit weather, I started to look into lubes for cold weather. Tried 0W20 Mobil 1 and various other very thin oils. The 0W20 works pretty good, but this is my go-to for cold weather: Slipstream.

As the weather drops around NH, I clean then switch from 0W20 to the Slipstream.

      MS:

Ummm, I thought the consensus was to run the striker channels dry.

Still, 18 rounds in -6 deg weather is 18 more that I'd do.
