  • I have a sickness.......

.......just ordered my 3rd Kahr in as many weeks.

And to think....this all started with me going into a store to
look at a Walther PPS......and coming home with a Kahr PM9 DLC!!

Then my plans to get a Glock 36 were waylaid by the seductive
siren call of the PM45.........along with way too much information
to my questions given too freely and too quickly by "some" members
of this very forum! (Usually accompanied with pretty pictures...how did
they KNOW this would be my downfall?..it's just uncanny!)

And the final leg of this triumvirate of weakness.....my "other"
longstanding plan to get a G27 got totally blown out of the water
when I was cruising the web looking for some mags for my PM9 and PM45
when I came across this smoking hot deal at Larry's Pistol and Pawn for
a CW40.....for $369.00. A Kahr for less than a Taurus?? Are you kidding me??

Sigh........well, at least I know that I've covered all the bases of the
major calibers now.......and I've turned over a good 60% if my gun safe
to pull all this off! All that's left is the waiting....hopefully sometime next
week I'll have yet another range report to post

Wow, Michael I think your G.A.S. is reaching critical levels. In any case good for you, I'm sure you are going to enjoy your guns.
I think I'm in need of a new one (maybe need is strong word but I'm sticking with that story ) the problem is that there are so many on my wish list that it is difficult to decide witch one.
Maybe a new Kahr or the LCR or a Judge or maybe a nice shotgun or maybe save more money and go for a 1911. What to do, what to do?????
Why is it that every time there is a shooting spree they want to take the guns away from the people that didn't do it? :59:

The waiting is the worst part! I hate waiting. I cried when I received a message from Buds on my recent probably unnoticed around here aquisition informing me that everything is go, all the chickens are in the sack your order will ship in 3-7 days! 3-7 days! Dealers apparently don't realize what 3-7 days is for us on the receiving end. I guess it's gonna be a long weekend for me.
I'm happy for you Michael, keep em coming. I won't be trying to stay with ya but I'll be routing for ya from the sidelines with enthusiasm unmatched my mortal men.

Critical levels indeed....I have some serious "Kahr-sickness" heh....I carried
my PM45 for the first time today. Not sure exactly how I'm going to handle
carrying the spare mag yet but it was a real treat to be carrying a single
        stack on the hip.

That LCR is (was) on my short list too. I'm really intrigued by that gun.
The triggers on the couple that I've played with have been excellent.
        I've always liked Ruger wheel guns. I've had a 4" GP100 and SP101 snubbie
for going on 20 years now.

I'll bet they didn't physically have the gun... "In Stock" is subject to interpretation... it seems. I've been thinking about a 7 and now an 8-shot revolver... Taurus 608... SS... factory ported... 44 frigging ounces!!! It should be pleasant shooting with .38 special +P instead of full .357 magnums... but dang, that's not a light revolver. I'm thinking of that as a defense gun for my wife at the head of her bed instead of the 9-shot .22 with Stingers. They have that at Buds'(supposedly) and I don't know what Wifey would say if I got one of those, especially as heavy as that is... plus 8 bullets! That's heavier than my S&W 645 that weighs about 43 ounces with 8+1!! That might be a turnoff for her. I'll bet it's easy to shoot with all of the "ballast" and porting.
Well, the market's recovering from the 9% drop earlier... an update says.
          HA! Looks like HALF recovered!

I hear you there bro...my order confirmation came back saying that my gun
would ship in 5 days...yikes! I called my FFL as soon as I clicked "buy"
and asked him to fax his stuff over. Who knows if he did or not..heh.

Good thing I have some "final break-in" to do with both my PM45 and PM9 still
and I also promised my 11 yr old son that I'd take him to the range with me
on the next trip. He's been waiting patiently for his turn to learn to shoot
            after his big brother.

No kidding, one has to wonder about a polymer wheel gun specially if it is made by Ruger plus all the good reviews online.
My first gun was a Ruger .22 rifle that my father gave me, since then Ruger holds a special place for me. Not to mention that it was still working perfectly when I passed it to one of my younger cousins.

Weird the LCR's I've played with all had horrible triggers? Must be a west coast version. I love Rugers revolvers, never cared much for their autos, too big and clunky. We have a couple new Taurus 738?'s. Little 380 autos and they have incredible triggers, reset and everything. I have little use for anything 380 but these are pretty nice. Both have offered to let me shoot them since I ordered them for them if they ever get a supply of ammo. I've found some but I learned long ago not to order till I see hard cash from this crew. Ate too many things myself to play banker anymore.
Buds had not let me down before, I think they actually have it and I think sometimes they are displaying worse case scenario numbers. Mernickle holster usually say 6 weeks and you usually see them in 2, same deal.
I feel your pain Michael, play with the other NEW toys, take the boy shooting and let the waiting begin.....................

Skip my ruger talk, I was thinking the LCP?, not LCR? Little auto versus little revolver. Its an interesting concept, never played with one YET! Doesn't look cool to me but cool isn't everything. Well thats a dang bald faced lie right there. Looking cool is everything so I'll put a sack over my head while I'm checking one out.................
I wear one when I'm driving my "F" word van but I think everyone knows its me. I gotta get me another Chevy so I can drive to the levy and eat eskimo pies.

                      Wynn,

Have you looked into the 327 Federal Mag? I'm thinking on the Ruger GP100
platform it might be a nice soft shooting gun with some impressive ballistics
from the business end. Another, perhaps counter intuitive option is
the Kel-Tec (yes I know, nasstteeee word on this forum PMR-30 not only
looks like it could be a heck of a lot of fun to shoot but for someone really
recoil sensitive being able to lay down a hail of 30 rds of 22 WMR in the face of an
intruder seems like it could be very effective.

By the way, this is all speculation as I've not shot either of these guns.

I completely agree with you on the LCP, not really my cup of tea specially been a 380.
On the other hand the LCR is like one of them dogs that are so ugly it actually looks good. I guess I want it because is different to the stuff I have.

Michael, I'm kind of wanting to get a "hi-cap" revolver with a powerful conventional, easily acquired round... thinking 125-gr or more +P .38 special... in the heavy magnum revolver... with porting.

I just noticed a NOTICE on the box of Federal .45 FMJ:

"DO NOT USE IN FIREARMS WITH PORTED BARRELS OR PORTED RECOIL COMPENSATORS."

                          and below that:
"Not for Law Enforcement Use", but it's okay for civilians??

I wonder WTF/ and how many people notice that!?

MZ velocity 830 fps and MZ energy 322 ft-lbs for this 230-gr FMJ.

Bawanna' better check his ammo before using it.

actually that little Ruger lcp is one dandy semi. compared to the kel tec which is basically a copy. the quality is like day and night. I won one, never hardly shoot it anymore, works great. Just that my PM9 seems to go everywhere the little lcp could go and fire powers is a no brainer..

BUT, it sure in hell beats a rock.
. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

Not sure about Federal FMJ but I know both Winchester and Speer have had
fairly sizable lots of their "LE-Only" ammo fail some requirement or other
and get dumped on the market as "Not For Law Enforcement Use".
I remember a few years ago there a whole bunch of Gold Dots with hard
primers. And there's still a bit of the Winchester Ranger with parts numbers
                              prefixed with a "Z", ie,. ZRA9T instead of RA9T.

                              Speaking of .45 cal....heh, it's a bit pricey but the Thunder Ranch S&W 325
might just fit your bill too
