  • Geco .380 FMJ Ammo in my CW380

Garbage!! I took my CW380 to the range yesterday and all they had in stock was this Geco ammo. My gun malfunctioned with single magazine of this stuff. I really did not think I would be able to get through a box of 50. I had a second box that luckily they accepted back as a return. The gun would not extract the spent casing and the round to be chambered would be wedged underneath. I had to push down on the magazine from the open chamber and forcefully rip the magazine out. In the process I wound up slicing my finger and bleeding all over the range.

On a good note I had some critical defense rounds that the gun devoured with no issues.

Stay away from this stuff, it will save you some money and a headache and maybe a sliced finger!

Thanks for the advice. With FMJs my CW380 has problems with Aguila but runs well with Blazer Brass and HPR Hyper Clean.

muggsy: Let's face it, being shot by a .380 will ruin anyone's day.

When I see Geco I think of that lizzard insurance commercial.
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

Don't want to necro an old thread but since I found this while searching for my issue, figured I would add my story

Bought a gently used Kahr P380 and headed to the range. I don't know if the pistol had been through its 200 break in or not. The only ammo the range had was the Geco stuff listed above. It was a nightmare. Only using the slide stop to drop the slide, it would FTF about 50% of the time. It would jam every third or forth round. Some lock ups were so bad, I had to do as the original poster did, force the slide back and press down on the remaining bullets to drop the magazine and clear the failure. I had bought 2 boxes of Geco and gave up after fighting my way through one box. I was worried the gun was a lemon, honestly.

I took it home, gave it a good cleaning, and bought a box of Remington 88gr JHP. I took that and the second box of Geco back to the range today. I shot the Remington first, it ate the entire box of 50 with no malfunctions of any kind, flawless. I then loaded the mag with the Geco and it jammed right away when I dropped the slide release. I didn't even bother to fire it, just gave the ammo to the range guys with the heads up that it seemed to be garbage, at least for the Kahr.

I actually really like Geco ammo. Of course I haven't used the 380 but the 9mm was flawless in my cm9 and Glock 19. I like it due to the high velocity and it simulates practicing with +p rounds.

Mine had same problem with this ammo, though it ran fine in friends G42.
                  Rest in peace Muggsy
