  • Second Test Firing of the CW380

I put 70 more rounds thru the CW380 this afternoon, for a total now of 100. Too cold to shoot more outdoors. About a third each of Blazer brass, PMC, and Defender remans. All worked great except for one slide lock back with the PMC. It dumped the brass in a pretty tight pattern, some of which landed on my head as I was sitting in a chair. Standing, I got a few in the forehead.

Collected what I could find in the grass in case I decide to reload later on. What with the price of 380's that might be the way to go.

I recall reading that some said theirs didn't handle a 7rd load (one in the pipe, 6 in mag) but this one does, at least with the couple mags I tried.

I'm hoping the gun will turn out to be reliable enough to carry. Early indications are that it will.
    CT380,CW9, P45, Colt 1991A1, 1911A1 Rem-Rand, Sig GSR 45acp, Sig Ultra 45acp,Colt New Agent 9mm, German Makarov 9X18, M1 Carbines, Walther P22, Remington Nylon 66, North Amer 22, Ruger LCR 38cal, S&W Victory 38spl, S&W M15 38, Remington 870 Police 12ga.

Sounds like you are doing great! Thanks for the reports. I think the membership needs some examples of break-ins that go well (which is the norm).

sure sounds reliable to me. Nice post.
. My PM9 has over 34,000+ rounds through it, and runs much better than an illegal trying to get across our border

Thanks, I was a bit hesitant to write about such a short test period as there have been zillions of reports, good and bad, on the 380's. But its such a fun gun to shoot and a
challenge for me to see how well I can shoot it. For the time being, I prefer to sit as I can control it better than standing. At my ripe old age I need all the help I can get.

One footnote to the report: I started with the Defender ammo, went to blazer next and it definitely seemed to have more snap/kick. Then on the to PMC and it seemed
to have even more. Doesn't seem likely that I could actually feel a difference so it may
have been imagination. At any rate, I like the Defender reman ammo made here in NC
and sold only at shows (I think) so I want to get more of it. They said it was loaded with Titegroup. Works good in my Lc9s also.

these little guns have a darn stout recoil system. They are small as sguns and they require this stout system to keep the gun together. The one failure to lock back could have been numerous reason,s but for me no big deal the gun went bang, evidenty it was last round in magazine, . Many here do recommend break in with defense qmmo for it is hotter tha range fodder fmj ammo and works the recoil system better4 for break in. If one has issues during break in with defesne ammo, he certaqinly willhave mopre issues with normal fmj ammo. Most is just not as hot as defense stuff. Its a defense gun, find the righgt round that works perfec tand just stick with it. Not sur ehow old u are but at m age a chair is the ost comfortable position for me at the range, certainly not the best trainig tool but WTF. I go for fun ad whatever. Lus thouse chairs.

Jocko, I probably didn't explain it well, but the lock back occurred while firing with rounds still in the mag. I just hit the slide release and finished out the mag.

SOMETHING to look at when that happens is the rounds hitting on the inside of the slide lock lever. It can happen. When I had my 380 kahr, it would not do well with 102 golden sabre due to that. I just changed over to corbon powerball and all was well..

Does anyone have the latest upgrade version for the Jocko decoder ring?

I was going to get the Jocko 5.0 version decoder ring , but then I realized that he doesn't know what he's talking about most of the time anyway.

Hopefully it won't continue but if so, will look at the slide lever. Might have been coincidence that it was a PMC round, but I've read that some guns didn't handle PMC well. I'm gonna start another thread asking others about it. Thanks for tip.

Precision One withe XTP bullet runs great in mine. Fiochhi Extrema w XTP also does well. Both expand and penetrate gel to FBI standards as Shootingthebull410 utube video shows.

I don't put much stock in the FBI standards. Being shot by any bullet will pretty much ruin your day. I'm not as concerned about over penetration as I am about under penetration.

Went to show today but reasonable priced 380 was scarce. Got a 20rd box Corbon. Prob will toss a mag thru next time I go out to shoot to see if it feeds. I feel sure it will.
Also the CT380 7rd mag came today and I like the feel of the extended mag. Fits nicely in the CW.
