  • Premature Lock Back?

I had a premature lock back recently while rounds were still in the mag. At the time I was shooting a few PMC that I had left over. Hit the slide lock and continued without any further failure, but this has got me to wondering if this has occurred to others and if perhaps it has to do
with certain type ammo, or other causes?

    Comments please.

Edited to add: After reading Jocko's excellent preparation sticky, I expect that the culprit was my thumb and the above thread may be "premature".

    Premature Lock Back?

I had that issue with my CW380. It did that with several types of ammo.

I would try some other ammunition and if your carry ammo cycles fine then I wouldn't worry about it. In my case, I sanded a little off the slide stop mechanism and the problem went away.

I should add that I did not have that issue with my CW9 or CM9.

If it was a single incident I wouldn't worry about it. It could have been caused by your thumb hitting the slide release, or a limp wrist, or loose grip on the gun.
