  • IWB holsters with thin clips for CW380

My everyday carry is the CW380. I wear thin, polycotton pants that have their own flimsy, built-in stretchy webbing type belt. It's not very supportive for things like holsters. I use a Galco leather IWB holster usually with the CW380, which I really like in terms of fit and feel, but I find that the big plastic clip is unnecessarily bulky. It's obviously made for big thick leather belts. It works well, but it prints almost as much as the butt of the gun. I also have a Remora IWB holster, which is very nice and sticky, and has no clip at all. It works, but occasionally I have had it slip out of place, especially with more relaxed elastic waist pants. What I would really like is something like the Remora, but with a very slim, flat, low profile clip that won't stand out like a sore thumb, just to slide over the edge of the pants to keep it from slipping down. So, is anyone aware of such a thing?

I have tried alternatives like the SmartCarry, I didn't like it because having the additional velcro belt is just too much hassle and bulk. I like to dress light. I just want an IWB holster that is made for thinner pants and no belt, like the Remora, but with a minimal clip to stop from slipping down (or the pants slipping away from it). Any ideas?

Try this FIST Holster, in ultra thin it disappears and is an excellent match for the CW380. The clip is excellent for belt or "belt-less" retention on your garment, the inside of the clip part at the bottom has a "lip" that holds very well without wearing the fabric. Then go to the Remora holster page and get THIS. Put it on the back (skin side) of the FIST and it helps to hold it up on a flimsier belt/pants system like you describe.... That is my answer to your inquiry, hope it helps....

Total would be about $65 for this combination at full retail, so in line with a good leather holster. The important part is that it works for you.....

I like the idea above, but what about something like this with the clip on the thinner side of the holster instead of the thick part?

I don't know if you have ever seen the ultra thin Kydex on the Fist holster. I think that it is still thinner than the Panther concealment in .080" kydex. They are that skinny... The clip is too, but most of them have to have a bend radius to fit a belt anyway.... Not knocking the Panther stuff by any means, they are top notch in my opinion... The OP is using a GALCO with the big plastic clip, so any metal clip will be thinner anyway...

The Fist looked great and is probably the best solution. I was just trying to give him another alternative.

I have a Crossbreed Minituck for sale on this site. Great holster - I have it for a few of my guns. Only reason selling it is I am selling the gun. Very secure and concealed

Thanks very much for the FIST tip. It's really hard to tell from the picture how "thick" that metal clip is, in terms of printing. I guess it's the kind of thing you just have to see in the flesh to find out how it works. Maybe I'll try it, thanks again.

Yeah, the problem is most clips are bent to fit over a belt too.... I have found the Remora strips to be very handy for a lot of things though... an old leather or nylon bi-fold wallet with that on the outside will stick in your undies (or a sock top...) for a pick pocket resistant way to carry some money and an ID..... How about a safety pin through the edge of the Remora? It gives a bit of hard point for the holster, as you have had some slippage from your other... I have had good luck with pocket carry as well, so if IWB is not a must have, try that as well...

I'm certainly open to hacking my own solution, but I was just wondering if there were any commercial products out there already that just did what I want "out of the box". I think it would be fantastic if Remora did a version of their basic sticky IWB holster, with a super-thin metal clip that is consciously made for people wearing thin clothing, rather than thick leather belted pants. I believe this would be useful for anyone who carries while wearing elasticated pants (e.g. fitness training, couch pants), maybe even women who tend to wear tighter fitting clothing in general. The ideal clip would be almost flat, if not completely so, just enough to slip over the edge of the pants/skirt/shorts/whatever. I like the sticky Remora a lot, but sometimes with elasticated pants there is enough "give" in the elastic to allow the holster to shift and fall out a the wrong moment. I think having the combination of the sticky holster against your skin, with the clip over the edge of the pants, would help ameliorate that problem.

Broke out the camera, the Galco is the STO460 size that fits the MK9.... so it may not be the same as yours, but the clip should be....

I am with you on the clip issue, perhaps a specialty clip could be made like this, but who would you talk to about this?.... I know I would get one, as I think IWB in pants like you describe with the CW380 is very comfortable.... Unfortunately "hacking" a solution seems to be the best way to mitigate the natural mediocrity of mass production....

Remora does make this holster, the MICRO that has a clip, but there is not one listed for the CW/P380 so maybe give them a call... Whatever you find, let us know anyway...

You might want to check out this holster:

I used one with a db9 for a while. A cm9 just barely fits. I would think it would work well with your .380.

There you go. Sounds like exactly what pr42 was wanting.
