    CW9 Dinging Cases

    A lot of the fired cased have tiny dings on the edge. I'm guessing the
    edge of the shell it hitting the top right edge of the barrel hood as its
    being ejected.

    Don't think it will cause any resizing problems, but mostly just curious
    as to what is happening.

    The pic probably doesn't adequately show the ding but I make a mark
    around the area.

    It's quite common on Kahrs and actually many others as well. I heard of some improvement if you sort of polish up the sharp edges on the ejection port, most the top front right side.
    This also help eject live rounds as they sometimes catch at that point.

    In some cases it improves by itself over time and sometimes not.

      Check your "Operating Instructions" that should have come with your pistol. At page 23 of mine (not sure if this topic is on the same page of all the Instructions), it references "Note Regarding Primer Indent and Distorted Spent Case". Read it and see if the description is what you have going on (I can't tell from your photos). My Kahrs dent the top of the case, varying from not noticeable to some barely noticeable and some to a much greater degree than others. Most are barely noticeable.
      The Instructions (under the same topic) also talk about the elongated primer hits, and even shows a diagram of the primer marks.

        My K40 does the same...not a problem at all and they reload just fine.

        A couple Colts, a couple Brownings, a Makarov, a Sig, a couple Rugers, a couple Kahrs, a couple Smith & Wessons, a Walther, and a couple Berettas .....Oh, and some long guns...

          Thanks Bob for pics. Mine are not dented that much. Still curious as to what part of
          the ejector port causes this so today I marked all around the right side of the port with
          black marker and fired a few to see if any scrapes on the marker showed. There were some tiny marks on that section of the Port just above the extractor. Seems to me this should be reasonably easy to fix by shaping that corner a bit, making it smoother. Might be tempted one day when warranty runs out. ha.

          Meanwhile, its good to know the cases still reload well as I'm going to start shortly.
