For some reason Matt indicated the stud would be removed from the plate he is sending.
I do appreciate the picture of plate removed from the gun.
Seeing the coarser threads is a bit reassuring. I was imagining
much finer threads and really dreading messing with it
    I ain't so skeered as I was.

The side plate on my gun isn't counter sunk like the one in that picture.

You mean the attaching screw isn't counter sunk? That's what looked wrong in your picture, the screw head sticking up.

Sad that made it through final inspection.

Right, that's the way it looks to me. I reckon if I don't like the one with the stud removed, I can countersink the old one to make it work.

Found the right size screw driver at Sears for $2.33 out the door.

Even with the plate removed, there's no metal stud by the way, the screw goes into the frame at an angle. Don't think a new plate is gonna change a thing.
I'll give it a shot, but I don't like the odds.

Old plate is counter sunk, but the screw acts like it is cross threaded.. It's not, the screw was put into the frame at an angle and that's how it is.

Well, the new side plate worked, but I had to booger things around a little bit and make sure the screw was going straight down through the plate.

After getting the screw, screwed in about half way, I then wiggled the plate into place and things all lined up. When I started screwing the screw in, it was hitting the frame and pushing the side plate back up.. Some wiggling and jiggering and I got the screw to make it's own hole going straight into the frame and it looks purty durn good now.

It's not a hairline thin fit between the plate and the frame, but it's a 100% better than it was and surely not worth having to go through another frame change.

              I got'r did!!

Well done Iggy. You probably won't have any trouble with it. I have a P380 that had side plate screw holes so buggered up that I had to repair them (bought it used, so I don't know if the damage was from the previous owner or left the factory that way). I've not had any issues with it since the repair.

Good to know about the super glue application.. I wondered what I would do if I have a problem with the gun after firing a bit.

I'll keep that in mind.. Sounds like a pretty good solution.

Hard to find round these parts. We got a lot of migrant California misplants around here and they demand a safety label every 6 inches. Apparently barb wire has sharp little points and one can injure oneself. Scary world.

Where were they when I was stringing concertina wire around the prison. Now that stuff make barb wire childs play.

Well we took Itchy's CW45 to the range. I put a little locktite in the hole before I put the screw in. She fired about 100 rounds this afternoon and the plate stayed in place and the screw didn't move. I guess we got it fixed.

Nice. That plate shouldn't give you any trouble I would think. I think you got it working.
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

Itchy went a shootin' Friday. She was testin' out her CW45. These are 6 &7 round groups fired at 15 yards. The group in bullseye in chest, bullseye in the head and bullseye # 5 are 7 shots groups.

She was down to 3 rounds left and was too cheap to buy another target so the weird looking group over the shoulder near the right side of the target was used. I told her to imagine that white area is a man with a knife charging her and to shoot from the hip. That was the result.

I think you can understand why I am such a good boy. She's a heck of a backup, but I sure wouldn't want her mad at me.
