  • 380 Ammo: More testing with my CW380

Ah, the fun continues. Love this little pistol. Total rounds through this pistol is now about 175. All round chambered via a full magazine, slide lock release (not slingshot). All rounds were fired two handed at 7 yards. I have learned the trick to not having the first round "nosedive" is to gently press the magazine into the pistol; forceful "slams" cause problems with this pistol. My CM9 is the same....maybe it's a Kahr thing? Those are the only two Kahrs I owe.

My CW380 has been 100% reliable with the one factory SD loads I've tested so far: Fiocchi Extrema 90 gr XTP. Very accurate and POI close to POA at 7 yards. I plan to test Federal's HydrShok sometime.

But I like to practice, and here the little CW380 is not so forgiving:
    • *Speer Lawman 95 gr FMJ - 100 perfect. About 125 rounds without failure.
    • American Eagle NO! NO! NO! - too many FTF. About 30% failures
    • GECO FMJ – Do not use. Failure to eject which causes a round jamming into that one. About 50% failures.
    • Maxx FMMJ - Do not use. Failure to eject which causes a round jamming into that one. Near 100% failures

So, the Speer Lawman FMJ is my practice round, the others will probably work in my Glock 42 which seems to accept everything so far. I was really surprised by the American Eagle. I've always had good results with that brand in any caliber. But my Kahr 380 just doesn't like it. Just goes to show that guns can be quite finicky.
